Otto's Masonry

Otto's Masonry was great and I would definitely use them again. For this job the replaced our fireplace damper, enlarged the opening and fixed everything up so that we could have a wood burning fireplace (was previously a dis-used coal one)

Otto showed up to the estimate appointment on time and didn’t seem phased that we were in the middle of our demolition! Otto sent me a quote via email thin 2 days– this is the most prompt of any vendor I’ve worked with! Their quote was half of what other masonry companies had quoted us. We booked them immediately with the caveat that they would fit us in around other jobs on a rain date (as we had left this job a little late in the season and they were already booked up).
Otto fit us in for a rain date within a week! During the process Otto was very communicative via email.

I found this gorgeous wall underneath the plaster when we demolished the wall the renovate the downstairs bathroom. It was in great shape but not as great as the wall opposite. I looked up Otto who I'd gotten a quote from previously for limestone thresholds and had liked him instantly. So we hired him this time around. It was a little on the pricey side but as you can see it turned out beautifully and it bought us the much needed 5" to keep this room as a bathroom with a shower. Devon, who did the work, was great and easy to get along with. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Otto for any tuckpointing and look forward to him returning to pour that cement that he offered for free as a thanks. Great guy, great staff, great company. I'm ready for the floor repour, Otto! :)

In four different houses over thirty years I have employed Otto for the hard jobs. He is meticulously careful, unfailingly clear and courteous. This time he hit unexpected challenges but didn't raise his price. For integrity and competence, he's the best!

We were beyond impressed with Otto. Really, all other trades seem to disappoint us. (ugh I wish I could write this so it sounded as genuine as this review really is) but he sent a man to point our basement stone wall and he stayed for over 9 hours straight. We were so impressed- he only charged us $500 and other companies were asking twice that. Couldn't be happier. Only wish we had hired him to do more work on our home as his work ethic is top notch and rare in this industry.

My wife and I were looking to gain some added space in our basement by removing the existing fireplace. Otto came out personally to give an overall honest opinion on whether the service could be done. He inspected and was able to give us the go ahead to start the removal. His team took one day and did an immaculate job. I was able to through a couple sheets of drywall up within the next few days. He even replaced a damage window. I am extremely satisfied and will definitely recommend his services.

We ran into an issue at our house with some work we were doing in the basement. We discovered our front porch (which was wooden) had no concrete foundation under it. In other words, the flimsy front porch was the only barrier between the outside and part of our basement. I called Otto and he came to look at it right away and once he saw what a mess it was, he had a crew at our place the very next morning to put in a proper concrete porch to create a proper barrier for this part of the basement. The whole job was done in 3 days and they did a great job. We are very happy with the new porch deck and since it was done so quickly, didn't hold up the work being done in the basement. We would use Otto's company again for sure. Thanks Otto and Tony.

Otto sent a team to replace 17 window sills with stone, and repair
the concrete under the sliding door on time, finished on time.Good
workmanship. We strongly recommend his company for masonry work.

Of the highest reviewed on Homestars and four contractors later, I found Otto to be the most honest and fair with his quote; he came to assess the job himself, took pictures, listened to our concerns and gave an honest recommendation. A written quote was given shortly after.
He proved to be a man with integrity (that’s saying much in this business) as he and his team went above and beyond to address our requests and correct arising issues. John and Jason were punctual, professional, respectful and accommodating and left the premises tidy. There is a noticeable difference in basement temperature after the mailbox fill-in (it’s freezing in cold weather). Also, my emails were answered promptly by either Otto or Tony and all concerns addressed. I was pleased with the outcome of the work done by Otto Masonry and would definitely recommend to friends and family and contract their services in future if needed.
PS. We asked for a chimney repair of damaged and crumbling bricks as the lower half of the chimney was intact – this was also more affordable for us. Otto was the only one to recommend a chimney repair and not an entire re-build as other contractors did. He said the bricks were in good condition and a re-build was not necessary but would do it if we wanted. One contractor would not come to the house but proceeded to give a quote over the phone (Really?)…said he knew the area…I don’t know what the area has to do with my particular house or chimney! Another quoted almost 5x the price for spot-pointing (not full tuck pointing) and 2x for mailbox fill-in using “removed brick from chimney”. I understand brickwork/masonry is expensive but this is price gouging and beyond ridiculous. Buyer Beware!

Another 10 for Otto's Masonry. Idrees did a fantastic job on tuckpointing the chimney and a small repair to our steps. I am beyond satisfied with the workmanship. Provided honest and valuable advice. Will gladly direct anyone to this company.

My home needed tuck pointing, and concrete resurfacing on the front porch. I contacted many contractors some refused to come to my home because they felt the job was too small. The other's who came to the house gave me outrages quotes. Otto's Masonry gave me the best quote, and promised to be prompt in getting the work done. Well Otto's Masonry delivered. The work was done in a timely manner, and the finished product was exceptional. Should my home again need masonry work I will sure to call Otto's Masonry.
