Kitichen Stove

Bought this stove 11/5/13. Three years old. The mother board is gone and whirlpool wants over $500.00 to fix it. I know that Whirlpool builds a life into their appliances, but three years? I talked to them twice and they offered no help. I WOULD NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL AGAIN.

Don't trust Whirlpool Repair

I needed my microwave fixed before Christmas. It told them the exact issue and gave my model number so they can order the part. On the Monday before Christmas the tech (who was very friendly) called and said he's in the building already so can he come over to do the repair a day early. I said yes and came home for from work. He came and put a cup of water in the microwave, it didn't heat, he said he doesn't have the part and I'd have to make another appointment. He was in my place for 2.5 minutes. I was charged $100 and still didn't have a working microwave. I had to cancel Christmas dinner at my place. I'm not sure what the point of this visit was because this was NOT a SERVICE/REPAIR appointment.

Their customer service person should have scheduled a repair. I'd rather get a bill for $300-400 and have a working microwave than pay $100 for someone to do exactly what I did and leave in 2 minutes.

Side note: both whirlpool products in our condo have stopped working and they are under 5 years old. I have GE and LG microwaves/ovens in my other condos that are more than 15 years old and still working so I WILL NEVER buy a whirlpool product again.

I want to be very clear in this review - the Tech was very friendly, I have no issues with him at all. I am upset at Whirlpool repairs though for wasting my time and money and ruining our Christmas. They called after I tweeted them and said that's their protocol. That customer service agent was very rude and kept speaking over me. Just don't waste your time with them.

Customer Service POOR

I just spoke to Gabi, in customer service and I was delivered a brand new $7000 Professional Series Gas Stove and it was dead on arrival. Called Whirlpool on day of delivery and they refused to bring a new stove. They said they would do the many repairs even though it was still wrapped and not even turned on...... NEVER BUY WHIRLPOOL !

Convection oven door lock motor malfunction

I called 1800 number of whirlpool Canada to repair my oven /microwave unit. I told them the error codes displayed on the screen.
They sent third party appliance repair company named Standard appliance ltd based in milton.
The tech came and took long time to diagnose it and asked me to pay first for this trip and then you will be charged for the part and next trip too. I asked to give me estimate of total cost that I should budget for it. He started showing me attitude and said I'm coming back.
I called his boss Henry and he was rude and I said why you are so rude to me as customer and he said customer is always wrong.
I gave him my credit card number and now reporting to whirlpool about this company.

Kitchen Aid chimney hood fan

The short story is that the box was missing a part. The long story is that it has now been 3 months, I have made 23 calls into their customer service line at a minimum of 30 minutes per call. Wrote 3 letters to their customer cares department with no responses. 5 scheduled full day appointments (had to take off time at work) with no technician showing up or calling. Finally 6th time technician shows up but with wrong part. Had to pay my installer again ($700 in total bills now) to come to explain to the Whirlpool technician which part is missing. Tweeted my rage and finally now getting "responses" but no fix in site. I have never dealt with a company with worse customer service skills. Company does not stand behind their products, don't waste your money it will lead to heartache!

4.9 CU.FT. High Efficiency front Load Washer

In June, had problems with this machine. it took over 1 month to have it repaired through Whirlpool Canada. having problems since o4 Sept now. A tech will come out and access what is wrong. If they need to order parts; which they almost always do; that will take another week. Whirlpool Canada can apologize as many times as they want for our inconvienence, but it does not change the fact that we will be out of a machine for a minimum of 3 weeks.

this machine is not even 8 months old and yet, they will not replace this machine.

Washing machine nightmare

I purchased an Amana washing machine and it is less then a year old, whirlpool manages the service for this machine. First of all the machine sucks! I've had 2 techs and 4 service so far and again, less then a year old. The tech camp out on July 9 and was so rude I called in the same day to conplain. It's the 21st and still no follow up from whirlpool so I call in to find out that 2 of the parts are in back order. Today July 25th, I call again and now I'm being told that I have to wait another 5 business days. When asked who would follow up with me I was informed no one. They cannot tell me what my options will be and can do nothing for me. Doesn't make me want to purchase an extended warranty.

Well August 18th and still no washer or dryer now! They decided to replace my washer, made me pay 200.00 extra but at this point I don't care. Plus icing on the cake, had to buy a new dryer cause mine are stacked and they could not give me a washer that fit my existing dryer. In total spent 900+ for something that was under warrenty. Took 3 different delivery companies, 4 days off work and very rude employees who do not listen to you.

PLEASE save yourself the hasle, buy from sears, get a warrenty and never purchase from whirlpool. I wanted to escalate my issue to head office, there is no one there. It's an answering machine that hangs up on you. Read everyone's opinion of this company, and don't buy whirlpool. You'll regret it like me and now I'm over 3000.00 in the hole

Did not fix washing machine despite me paying them

I don't normally write scathing online reviews, but this one takes the cake. Whirlpool used a company called "Toronto Appliances Service". Since it's difficult to delineate which company is responsible for certain mistakes, I will simply outline my bad experiences. Overall, there were five things they did which were very costly to me and annoying:

1. I called Whirlpool Canada when my out-of-warranty Whirlpool washing machine leaked. The Whirlpool rep said he'd send over a repairman to diagnose the problem (and quoted me the associated fees). The Whirlpool rep also told me I would be called and told a more specific time about when the repairman would arrive. This did not happen. Instead, a Toronto Appliances Service repairman arrived without advance notice AND, furthermore, I was billed for the time he waited for me to arrange entry into my home.

2. The Toronto Appliances Service repairman (who in fairness I acknowledge came across as both professional and pleasant) diagnosed the problem as a leaky "bellow". He also informed me in writing that the pump worked fine (this becomes relevant later). He quoted me about $457.65 to fix the washing machine. I agreed. The repairman installed a replacement "bellow" a couple weeks later and said he tested the machine and it worked fine. I accordingly paid him that money and he left my home. That same day, and the *VERY FIRST TIME* I used the washing machine after paying, the washing machine filled with water and shut off. I could not even remove my clothes. Toronto Appliances Services returned, and this time diagnosed several problems, including a faulty pump (which recall had been been diagnosed as "working fine"). The revised repair cost far exceeded the cost of the washing machine. When I complained to Toronto Appliances Services about the $457.65 bill, I was told to take it up with Whirlpool Canada.

I called Whirlpool Canada and spoke with a manger, who offered 1) to sell me a replacement Whirlpool washing machine at a wholesale rate, and 2) to refund half of the $457.65 bill. I thought this sounded like a fair compromise, so I accepted. If Whirlpool had delivered on this offer, I would have left a satisfied and repeat Whirlpool customer. Instead, they did not deliver on either component of this offer. Here's what happened:

3. Re the wholesale rate: Upon being transferred to the person assigned to provide me with a washer at a wholesale rate, I was informed that none of the available Whirlpool washers were compatible with my dryer (I live in a condo where space considerations require a washing machine to be stacked below the dryer using what is known as a "stacking kit"). Apparently the current Whirlpool stacking kits are all completely incompatible with what is just a three year old Whirlpool model. There are no adapters. In my view, either Whirlpool has made a deliberate business decision that everyone with an irreparable stackable washer or dryer will have to replace BOTH, or they simply don't care enough about their customers to investigate or design a solution. Either way, the Whirlpool customer ends up having to pay twice as much (and the impact on our landfills are twice as much too).

4. Re the cheque: Recall the manager promised to mail me a cheque refunding half the amount I paid ($228.82). That promise was on April 19, 2016. The words used by one Whirlpool rep that day were, "I can see on my system the cheque is already in the mail". Today is June 2, 2016, and I still have not received the cheque.

5. I called Whirlpool a couple weeks ago to inquire about the cheque. The person I spoke to was unapologetic, and even had the audacity to say that the Whirlpool rep who I had spoken to on April 19 was "accurate" when she said the cheque was "already in the mail", because what that phrase really means is that a process (internal to Whirlpool to send me the cheque) had been initiated. This rep denied my request to be transferred to a manager, and basically said I needed to wait longer.
