Moving from Ontario to Alberta in May, 2012

I booked my move with www.moving.ca. to Calgary. The email estimate I received was quite lengthy and very detailed. None of my questions were overlooked. The movers came one day to pack all my house belongs and the next day to load up my 4 bedroom house. Everything went extremely well. I was very happy with the level of service and would definitely recommend this company to anyone. If I move cross country again, these guys will be hearing from me.

Residential Move

I used this moving company when I moved from my condo to a house, and needed to put some extra things in a storage locker; I chose Two Small Men With Big Hearts to do just the move into the storage locker.

I booked about 2 months ahead, and the person I spoke to did a bit of 'dealing', waived the fuel tax and gave me a price, to which was below the other quotes I had received, so I agreed.

The day of the move came, and at 9:00 when no one had showed (we were booked for 8am) of course I called. I got an apology and assurance the crew was on their way. When they arrived, this was not a professional moving crew, it was two teenagers with no supervision. This was not what I was promised, so called AGAIN. 6 hours later (I had to be at home in case they showed up) 2 guys finally arrived and were in a foul mood. The entire experience was horrible, they broke a table, a mirror and scratched another table, and ended with 'forgetting' the discounts that had been told to me. The kicker- I forgot to get my receipt, and went over to their truck where they were sitting smoking a joint. I can usually find some positive redeeming quality in a company and never write a flat our horrible review, however this is an exception: I would NEVER recommend this moving company.

Long Distance Moving

This was the worst time of my life. Terry with 2 Small Men with Big Hearts mislead us about everything. I was not told they sub contracted to other companies she led me to believe that they did all their own moves. They did not weigh our items after they picked them up and as a result I was over charged. I was over charged for the packing they did and I was told I would only get charged for the actual time they took to pack. Our furniture came back to us scratched, dented, smashed, chipped, covered in grease or oil it was just awful. If you are planning on using 2 Small Men with Big Hearts or AMS Transportation Service Ltd. please reconsider and hire gorillas they would do a better job.

Moving Houses

This moving service is absolutely terrible. They were on time but things did not start well when they walked in and started complaining that we had a couple heavy pieces of furniture. One mover was great but he did not make up for the other two who were absolutely terrible and rude and for the company itself which will give you the total runaround for any damages. We never received a cent for a broken stove despite repeated calls and emails as well as calls to the franchise owner. We filled out all of the comprehensive paperwork required and never got anything. They do not care as there is no repercussion for them. They will always tell you it is with the claims department but when you call the franchise owner, they will tell you there is no claims department just the franchisee you are dealing with.

The movers took a very long time to load our items with frequent breaks regularly spent in the back of the truck sitting on our furniture smoking. They broke our ceramic top stove because one man tried to pick up a stove by himself which shows how unprofessional they are and ended up cracking the top against our granite counter top. Thankfully, it wasn't the granite that broke. Then he tried to blame my 65 year old father for the incident who was standing in the kitchen at the time.

Once they had everything loaded in the truck and arrived at the new house, they asked that as it was late, why don't they just unload everything into the garage as this would save us time and money. If we wanted everything just put in the garage, we would have moved ourselves. When we said no - we were fine with paying until it was finished, they were not impressed. They put nothing on the floors in our brand new home and ended up wearing their dirty shoes up and down our cream berber carpet runner which was filthy by the end.

As time went on, they indicated that we would have to pay them even more than the hourly rate because it was taking a long time (a factor which would be related to their frequent breaks). They then threatened that if we did not pay them immediately (with them forecasting how much longer it would take to make up the price), then they would drive off with the rest of our furniture. We didn't understand why they wouldn't just charge us what we owed when they were finished rather than paying at the 75 percent mark and guessing how much longer it would take. Needless to say, they finished earlier than what we paid as they were a lot faster when on their own time.

This was a horrible experience and one of the longest days of my life. I would never use this company again and am happy to share our story. Avoid this company. We do feel bad for the one of the three who was good. He should get a job at a different company. Hopefully, he has by now.

Moving Company

I had a very small move of approx. 50 boxes, 2 statues, and a white sofa. AMJ Campbell and Two Men and a Truck priced my move at $900 with 3 men. I thought it was high, and I went with this cheaper company for $600. However, little could I imagine just how much I would pay at the end of the night. They arrived an hour late. My elevator was booked for a limited time. It was clear that they were not professional movers from the minute they arrived. They had no idea how to carry a box, and they were very out of shape. They had a truck that was too small, and they brought no padding or wrap for my white sofa and statues as promised by the man who booked it. They were careless with the boxes, and they did not want to move the statues. They suggested I get someone else to do it. Of course, it was moving day and they could not be left behind. The owner had said I did not need extra insurance for the statues, since they had lots of experience. I finally phoned the owner when I watched my white sofa set on it's side on a dirty elevator floor. The movers said they don't carry anything to protect it. The same person I booked with answered the phoned and sounded very sympathetic. Later, I was told that the same person phoned the movers and told them to keep my furniture on the truck until I paid in full. They also insisted I pay in cash before they would unload my belongings. The total rate was now $1700. The entire experience was a nightmare, and they insisted my 10 year old and I help them if I wanted everything off the truck brought into the home. There were so many issues such as the lost keys to the truck to refusing to move the remainder of the items once the truck was full.

By some miracle, it first appeared that nothing had been broken. However, it didn't take long to realize they had placed things so the damage wasn't apparent. The base of the statue had been damaged, the sofa was no longer white, and there were a great deal of smaller items that were shattered. None of this compared to the Hauser cast iron lounge chair that had been put on the balcony on the 3rd floor. My 10 year old climbed on it the next morning to look over the balcony. What we didn't know is that the leg was broken off, and they set it up to appear it was not broken. My daughter fell back and hit her head on the concrete. She was unconscious, and we called an ambulance. She has since experienced migraines and problems with her vision. She experienced neither prior to this. We are currently working with a lawyer. We will take them to court.

I phoned and relayed the problem to the only man who answers the phone. He refused to give me his last name, and he told me that the owner only speaks chinese. He would have to communicate what happened with my child and the damage to the items to the owner himself.

I have since phoned repeatedly, and I have not had a single response. They have refused to discuss this matter any further, and they will not compensate for the damage to the items. This man refuses to discuss my daughter's fall. This was a very simple move that has turned into a nightmare. I'm smarter than this, and I know better then to hire a company without checking them out. After reading other's experiences, I will never make this mistake again. I hope to help you from making this mistake as well.

2 Moves within Surrey, BC

As stated in the Title, I have been mostly happy with the service from these guys. They arrive on time or early, go about their work and find ways to get the job done the quickest, at least one crew did. I was impressed. One of the guys made me laugh a lot, something of a bonus on moving day. The only negative was one guy really didn't like his partner and it showed, but truly, I have had nothing missing. the job's been done within their minimum time and that's all I've been charged for. I've been happy and am planning to move again shortly and will use them again.

Moving

I was not impressed with the service i received from this company. It was very difficult to get in contact with them to make a booking. I persisted for three weeks before I could reach someone to answer my questions and return my calls. Finally I made a booking, but was already turned off by the poor customer service. The moving day was just a nightmare and I would not tell anyone to use this company.
