Moving Day

My experience happend in Nov 2006, Firstly, the day before my move i called to ask about any costs in the event that we had to reschedule because of sickness. The clerk who was clearly not paying attention and was not listening took that to mean that we wanted to cancel. So when they were 1 hr. late on moving day and I called thats right they were not coming. Good thing I had left one cup out of the box so we could get some water for the day! your getting the picture. Absolute nightmore with a 6 month old who was sick.

Anyway we rescheduled and moved 4 days later. Fun living out of boxed in a completely packed up house for 4 days. It took tree or four guys all day to move a one bedroom apartment. What a rip.

The biggest problem that I learned the hard way is that estimates are a licence to print money. They guys end up sandbagging so it takes all day because if they don't move things from 4-5 or finish early guess what they don't bill those hours and don't get paid.

Basically it was a complete rip off. I would never move again without a fixed quote.

the only redeeming thing what that they did not break anything and did not damage anthing in the new house moving in.

cross Canada move

The truck drivers were great(Allied)...the fact that they deal with Tippett Richardson, to get their contracts, amazes me. They overcharged me $4000 on my $8000 across Canada move. $12000 remained on my credit card after numerous calls to both the East and West coast offices, everyone assures you that they`ll get to the bottom of it. The guy who came into our house to estimate the move was the most useless as it is his job to deal with this. They only charged me the estimate, not the weight of the truck or gas bill. Then, just before my credit card bill was due, they reversed the charge, probably because they are afraid of the crtedit card companies, whom I was in touch with in a big way. Then I find out that my bill was actually less than the estimate and it took weeks of calling to get that rebate back. I love telling this story and , finding lots of blogs to tell it on

House move

Arrived 4.5 hrs late (original arrangement was at 11.00 am, arrived at 3.30 pm).Original quotation was grossly inaccurate.Unable to complete the move on the same day (they arrived too late), thus the unloading of my belongings were done on the next day.My belongings stayed in their truck overnight. When the arrived the next morning, before anything else, they had me to agree to pay a flat rate fee of 4 hrs @$95.00/hr.in cash only or they will return to their depot with my belongings. The actual job took only 1.5 Hrs. Broke lots of things and at the end of the job, one crew member said that they are late for the next job.So it is my belief they were already overbooked just as the day before.Needless to say it was totally unacceptable and in short it's a disgrace!!

Move

This was my second excellent experience with Tippet Richardson in 5 years. They answer the phone, they return calls, and they’re prompt and organized. They came by the house to provide a pre-move estimate so there were no surprises; they dropped off boxes, they came to pack the dishes before the move, they did the move, and they sent someone to unpack the dishes after the move. All of that went perfectly.

The moving crew - John, Scott and Lawrence - was friendly, engaging, courteous, and extremely professional. They disassembled and reassembled half a dozen pieces of furniture including the kids' beds, a computer desk, a futon, and a dining room set. They moved everything with care and competence.

In my opinion, this was not just 3 guys and a truck - it was 3 professional movers who provided outstanding customer service. Well done and thanks.

Moving Services

This is an average moving company with a serious attitude. They did not treat me or my family with any real respect. We were given the impression that they didn't need the business, and they treated us accordingly. Though our move was 'only $1500,' to us it was a large event. Their customer service reps didn't want to return calls. I submitted a longer letter of complaint, but they haven't yet responded to it. The workers were adequate, their service acceptable, but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Condo Move

Arrived late, didn't have as many movers as promised, broke things, didn't deliver others, overcharged, then didn't answer phone calls or return phone messages, asked for a list of complaints in writing then never replied. Awful, awful service.

Moving

They on time on picking up the items to be moved. They were relaxed. Very well organized. No damage done to any of my belongings. Friendly, helpful, did extra things @ no extra cost. Price was the cheapest but the upfront service was very professional.

Moving Company

The worse mover I have to deal with. They will not tell me where my stuff is. They did not make any appointments they set up. I missed work 3 days in a row. Still have no idea where my stuff is at. Every one in the office is untruthfull about what happen.

Company Response

First of all, I would suggest that you also inform readers that your move went from Toronto to New York City. I would also suggest that on April 29, you knew that the truck was in the Boston area making other deliveries. You also knew that the tractor trailer attempted to get to your location on E 62nd Street and could not because of its size. You also were aware that we had to arrange for the rental of and transfer the shipment to a smaller truck to make delivery which we did on the 1st. You are failing to mention that we were also forced to work within the date and time constraints of the building you were moving into. You were in contact with both myself and Lynn in our office on a daily basis.
