Replacement of all windows and doors in townhouse complex
replace two windows (same size as old) & install one larger window
A repeat customer of ours brought to our attention yesterday that this review was posted; I apologize from not replying to it earlier.
We are still trying to understand why a job that was completed a year ago and ended on a handshake and a conversation with their saleslady that they were happy with the job and it was completed to their satisfaction and the bill was paid in full. In fact the saleslady called them back in the spring leaving a message to enquire if they were ready to do more work, has taken such bad turn.
The picture of the unfinished drywall was due to the installer that did the cutout running out of materials; I personally went to the job and completed the drywall, leaving it ready for sanding and painting, as painting was not part of the job.
Also not part of the job was to finish inside, as stated in the contract that the customer will purchase and install the inside casing and header, this was due to the shape of the existing moldings that had to be matched.
They forgot to mention that because they didn’t like the standard frosted glass. According to them it wasn’t the dictionary definition of frosted. We agreed to replace it at our cost for “sandblasted” glass, (the real frosted according again to the customers), and that would take care of everything, including the hardly visible marks in the floor that can’t be proven as how or when they happen as the floors were covered.
There are 2 lessons to be learned here, first of all, customers should always read the contract a bit closer, and for me, get a paper signed at the end of a job. My excuse is I have been in business for 27 years and always took a handshake as a sign of trust. I guess it is true, times are a changing, especially with the Internet when someone can slander a company or person from the comfort of their living room in a few minutes. It is a shame, really.
At Olympia we are proud of our reputation and finish each day knowing that we went over and above our "on paper" responsibilities. Like that famous TV personality, when something isn't right, we make it right for our customer. Reality is, however, that occasionally you can’t please a consumer no matter what you do.
