We used Northwood in the past for a furnace replacement so we were quick to bring them back to help with some air flow challenges in our new home.

Gary was excellent as always, did a great job with increasing my airflow to the trouble rooms by 75% and did a thorough job of sealing our basement ducts to ensure that the air got to where it was supposed to instead of coming out of the seams in the basement.

In a day and age where there are far too many questionable contractors int he HVAC business, you can have faith in this company to take care of whatever your needs are.

We are going to need a new air conditioner and furnace shortly, we only need to make one call.

Summer 2010. I called in Northwood when my 20 year old air conditioner stopped producing cold air. As this property was going to be sold in the fall, didn't want to do too much but did need working AC. Their first visit brought John who checked out the old unit - there was a significant loss of charge that a recharge wouldn't fix. The options were to spend a bunch of cash searching out the cause somewhere in the system (we'd have to check all the lines, the evaporator coil, condenser coil, compressor, everything!) or install a new unit. I opted for new and Michael visited next to look at the system and run through the available new units. Understanding my goal of not caring beyond having something that worked, Michael didn't play any upsell games.

Removal of the old and installation of the new took a good chunk of a day since the furnace was just as old and so a custom plenum was needed to house the much smaller evaporator coil and link everything up. The old lines were removed and new ones installed, all far, far neater than was previously the case. The plenum took some convincing to fit in but all was done with great patience. When something wasn't working right, they just went back to the beginning and redid it instead of leaving things half right. All the joins in the new ductwork were sealed with silicone and the new lines fully wrapped. The guys even helped out removing a useless (and leaking) drum humidifier. The entire job site was then cleaned up thoroughly.

I was very impressed with the quality of work done, the great nature of the workers and their obvious skill. I know who to call for HVAC matters from now on.

Northwood was over in our home for 2 repairs, the work was done in a timely manner and very neat and tidy. When we found a small problem with the humidifier repair, they had no problem and were quite happy to come back and fix it. The cold air return was fixed with minimal disrusption to the drywal. When I offered a suggestion to run the second cold air return line they were very happy to explore the option and ended up using it. We were so happy with the work we've signed a maintenance agreement with them!!!

Wayne and Mike from Northwood came in yesterday to provide the duct cleaning service I requested.
Very professional and thorough guys.
I have sinuses that are easily irritated, prior to getting the ducts cleaned, i was constantly having sinus issues.
When they were about 75% done through the cleaning, I could already tell the difference in air quality.
I have a 3 story and 1,280 sq ft townhouse, and the cleaning took about 4 hours. I've had one other duct cleaning experience at my parents much larger home and Northwood easily topped my expectations for thoroughness.
The only critique I could say about Northwood, would be the process of getting an appointment setup and having someone call you back for a quote on what you want to do.
I'm hoping to get a call from them to do a furnace and humidifier maintenance.

Northwood did an amazing job, took their time and did the job properly. Wayne and his crew are highly recommended. True to their word, a good duct cleaning would help control the dust.

Puchased an older home in midtown in the spring, after we moved in we realized that the heating system was not suitable.The guys at Northwood checked it out and explained what needed to be done, in very simple terms.They made the whole process easy.I am very satisfied with their workmanship.Thanks to Brian,Derek and Mike.I would highly recommend their services. Going forward Northwood will be my first choice for all of my heating and cooling needs.

Out of all the quotes I got to replace my furnace Michael at Northwood was the most patient and knowledgeable out of them all !! He answered every question with more information then anyone.He messured all the duct work and went through the whole job with me! It was a bit more expencive then the rest but in the end I felt more comfortable with Michael and Northwood to get what I was paying for.

We have an old house with a crappy HVAC system. The duct work was all wrong, and wasn't letting the perfectly good furnace and AC unit do their jobs. Northwood suggested we get a designer (we did) and then they implemented the design perfectly.

This involved cutting holes in floors, jamming ducts into skinny areas, figuring out how to push air effectively, hand-milling new ducts, and basically getting your hands dirty. Really dirty.

Brian told us what to expect and we went with his advice. Super kudos to Santo for his extra hard work and surprisingly kind treatment of our cat! Santo really went above and beyond on this one. Our home is now warm, thanks to Northwood.

My furnace stopped working sometime over the summer. The fan was running, but when it was on heat mode it didn't seem to want to operate. I called Northwood and they sent someone over to take a look at it. He came over looked at the furnace in my basement (while taking off his shoes and making sure that my floors stayed clean) Within minutes he had diagnosed the problem and said we needed a new part. It was starting to get cold, so I was a bit concerned about how long it was going to take The next day they came back with the part and another technician installed the part and got everything back up and running. Both guys were so professional and really seemed to know what they were doing.
If I was to give one small criticism, it would be that they could have communicated more about when they were coming and what the status of the part was. I called them a couple times and the person answering the phone - who was super-friendly - just didn't know the information. Investing in a bit of technology to keep your customers informed always makes a better service experience.
Otherwise, great. Keep up the good work guys!
