First time getting my roof done. Don't know a thing about roofing so started researching on the internet. Got 5 different quotes. Prices range from 4000 to 10000. Some of the roofers asked for down payments, used thinner plywood than standard, used CRC/BP shingles, wouldn't install baffles, wouldn't install washroom hose vents, wouldn't do basic repairs of eavestroughs or wouldn't even go up on the roof to do a proper evaluation.

I went with this roofing company because the quote was reasonable. Not too cheap, and not too expensive. They don't require down payment, and willing to do small repairs I asked for. The main guy is Roy. He is your single point of contact from beginning to end. Anytime you have a question, call or email him and he will give you an honest answer.

To save you the 3 month of research and get 25 years out of your roof the first time, ask for the following: plywood must be 1/2 inch thick nothing thinner, 6 feet ice/water/shield, rest of roof is synthetic felt (not tar paper), 3 inch drip edge all around, IKO/Certainteed/GAF fiberglass shingles, avoid BP and CRC, get 2 x large passive vent from Maximum Ventilation Model 301 - (I should have gotten 2). Always make sure to get plastic rafter vents, Roy can get that installed if you plan to open up the roof. Ask for 10 year warranty on their work and ask for WSIB insured.

Another thing to remember, roofers are dependent on the weather so be patient and considerate. If you want quality and good workmanship, get these guys. They have 7-8 full time workers and well organized. They came at 8:00AM and finished at 5:00PM. Cleaned up driveway, and left.

A unique thing about this company is that it been around since 1947. Think about the experience and knowledge they have when it comes to roofing.

Bill, Roy and their team responded quickly to both giving us a quote and completing the job. After the first day, they did not leave until the roof was protected against bad weather (it rained the next day). They said they would arrive at 9 am and they did (even calling in advance). The team (7-9 people) was efficient, everyone was friendly and cheerful and they left the place tidy. Without even being asked, Roy noticed that our balcony needed a fix - included that job in a 2nd quote - now we actually enjoy going out there! Roy even noticed that our bathroom vent was not hooked up properly and took the time to fix it, at no charge. The owners showed up every day and some employees have been with the company for 30 yrs (surprising, considering that most roofing companies have not been in business for long). Excellent service, greatly exceeded expectations. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

In a word, amazing.
Roy was professional, friendly and just all 'round great. They finished faster than expected, and on budget. He was the only contractor to actually bring me up and show me issues and gave me options. We will be using them in the spring for the rest of our house.

A leak developed in our 35 year old flat roof during a rainy fall period. Bill was very prompt in assessing the damage and supplying a quote. He took his time to explain the required work and was not high pressure. Work was done quickly and no mess was left behind. Bill followed up to explain what had been done. Good communication with the contractor and a good job!

In less than a (very rainy) week, Roy called, quoted, brought samples and then arrived with the crew at 9 a.m. on the Friday to replace my roof (semi-detached, two-storey house). They did a great job, even undertaking some extras that weren't included in the quote, for the same price! Respected my and my neighbour's property and left it cleaner than when they arrived. I highly recommend this company for your roofing needs.

We first used C Mitchell & Son Roofing a few years ago to resolve a leak in our shingled roof. This fall they did our flat roof. Bill and Roy are very easy to talk to and they don't try to frighten you into a bigger job than is necessary. They and their crew are courteous and professional and know what they are doing. We landscaped our backyard last year and they were careful not to damage it. We appreciated that they slotted us into their schedule as early as possible because our flat roof was causing a leak into our attached neighbor's house. They show up when they say they will and are reasonably priced.

The cause of our leaking flat roof was a frustrating mystery to us.
We'd had the flat part of the roof redone when we moved into the house about 11 years ago. This winter's consistent dripping became a virtual downpour a few days ago. A number of handymen have looked at it recently without coming up with any plausible explanations or solutions.

Then we called in the experts, Mitchell Roofing. They came out on short notice & just as expeditiously diagnosed the problem, a split in the membrane under the gravel covering. They did a quick patch job & gave us expert guidance in how to proceed to phase 2.

We'd recommend they be called for a quote on any roof work as they showed the expertise expected from contractors who have been in the business for over 39 years.

Right form the estimate to the final cleanup, C. Mitchell Roofing worked as consummate professionals. I think the best compliment was when a neighbour came by to ask me who did the work. Not that he needed any roofing done, just to say how impressed he was of Roy and the crew. They left the house cleaner than it was before the statred their work.

Roy checked my roof and took the time to take pictures of the shingles. I had already had 2 excellent references for this company. Roy explained options and made agreed to do the work at the first weather opportunity. His team of 7 arrived when he said they would and finished the work promptly. They spread tarps under the 2 skylights that were being replaced and did an excellent cleanujp. My yard was left very clean with no debris. They took away all the garbage. FANTASTIC SERVICE!!
