Sunday night my husband was doing laundry and noticed a trail of mud leading into our basement floor drain. We figured water must have come up the drain when the washer was running. I had someone from the city come out to take a look and they said to call a commerical plumber. I found Roy's number on Homestars. I arranged for Roy to come out on Saturday morning because he wanted me to be home when he came by, and I didn't want to miss a day of work (at this point there was no water in the basement). Sure enough, Friday morning after some bad weather, our basement completely flooded. I called Roy and he came over within the hour. He put a snake down the drain and the water cleared out immediately. He then put his camera down the drain and saw that our p-trap needed replacing. He arranged for a pair of guys to come out the following morning and break-up part of the basement floor and remove the p-trap. Overall it took about 5 hours work, was sorted out within 5 days and cost us about $1000. Roy was really friendly and quick to respond. I would definintely recommend him.

Called Roy mid-afternoon, arranges to come next morning. Friendly guy, has the problem diagnosed in short order, clears the drain temporarily so we can still use our toilet, phones and invites a drain replacement company to quote on the job, gives me the quote, I accept, Roy makes a very reasonable charge and is gone in 1/2 hr. Next morning, the other guy comes, does the job for the price quoted. Problem fixed, promptly done, reasonable price.

Mr Roy Gibson was very helpful and informative in advising us as to what the problem was and where it was precisely located. He then corrected the problem in short order.

His thorough inspection also assisted us in advising the landlord where certain other unrelated problems may surface down the road.

On New years day our drain backed up and water was all over my son's room in the basement. We called the town of Markham who refered to this company. Roy came the following Saturday and told us were the problem was. Our drain was completely blocked with grease and garbage. He went down more than 100 ft with his camera. He was very informative when we asked him all the questions. He advised me to tell all the members of my family not to throw any grease down the drain. He also assured me that the back up could have been there before we purchased the house.The problem is not completely fixed yet he has to come again when we break the cement which is covering the drain pipe in our basement. We discovered the basement drain was backing up on Sunday after going down to the basement and finding one of the rugs soaked with smelly water. Mayday was the first company to show up in a Google search for "drainage problems"! I phoned on Monday morning, 8 am and got an immediate response - Roy Gibson showed up at the house less than 2 hours later, immediately did a camera inspection and snaked the pipe. Roy quickly identified the problem and the solution: a 50-year old sewer trap blocking the main pipe which would have to be removed and replaced. He called up his contractors and got us a fair price for the job. The contractors came the next Saturday and did a great job. Many thank you's to Roy and his team for high quality, efficient work. If we ever have drainage problems again, we would call Roy again with no hesitation. Highly recommended!!

Adding to the great reviews here... I found Roy here on Homestars and he completely lived up to the reputation of all the other reviewers here. Helpful, knowledgeable, reasonably priced, and just plain good.

Friday night we came home, flushed the toilet and discovered we had a sewer backup problem in the basement. The Town of Markham recommended we call Roy of Mayday Drain Services. Roy was more than willing to come out even though road conditions were very slippery. Roy used his snake and cleared the blockage ( tree roots about 14 feet inside the pipe ) Price was very reasonable. We highly recommend calling Roy - not only does he provide excellent service, he is courteous and respectful and has a wonderful sense of humour.

Thank goodness their are still individuals in business who do the job right the first time at a reasonable price. Roy Gibson is the honest, hard-working professional you want to appear on your doorstep when you have drain or plumbing problems. Even though we telephoned him late in the evening to deal with sewage backup in our basement, Roy accommodated our request and arrived promptly to provide service. We had a lot of questions for him because we had not had this experience before. We found him to be very helpful and to provide us with good advise. He is highly skilled and knowledgeable. At the end of the day his sense of humour made a unpleasant situation less stressful. If you have drain/plumbing problems I would have no hesitation in recommending Roy. You can trust him to do an expert job.

This guy is a real pro. Not only does he care about what he does, Roy respects your home. In terms of drain knowledge, he is second to none. Not to mention some very cool camera gadgetry. Thank you Roy!

The company “Mayday,” which is really Roy, was extremely cooperative as to scheduling the appointment which was the same day, punctual, knowledgeable, courteous and I was very satisfied with the work, which potentially saved me thousands of dollars. I would hire the company every five years or so to check my drains with his special video camera snake from the house to the main drains. He found mine partially plugged, snaked them and I have the video he left for showing the drains before and after snaking. The whole job only took two hours and was very reasonably priced. I now have the “dirty” video as a baseline for my drain system when examining them in the future.
