Had very good experience with process and new home built in 2010. No problems and quality and finish was good. House has been fine and site supervisor (Brian) was great. Attitude from head office (owners) could be better.

Not sure where to begin, Mason homes in a nutshell is a business that builds homes that appear nice, but in fact are extremely cheap. In my own home I have had so many problems, multiple plumbing repairs, terrible concrete (not poured correctly x3, didn't follow footing blueprints, was told all this by an actual professional), bad mudding/taping, trimwork was amateur. Customer service is absolutely horrendous. Mason refuses to do anything without the customer having to fight for it. I am constantly dealing with different people, and the universal reason "that person isn't with us anymore." So, the employee turnover rate appears high, I heard one of the owners sons even quit. Their homes are very overpriced for what you get, they are spaced in most cases less than 10 feet away from the next one, and their claim to be the most efficient home isn't quite true. They add a air exchanger and that's it.....not a big efficient deal. In the picture I've included, they claimed the basement was a 4" pour, it wasn't. My advice is not to do business with Mason Homes, there are better out there.

We have had ongoing problems with the shower in our master bathroom since the day we moved in. 1st) a leak from a pipe in the wall. 2nd) Shower floor grout breaking up and popping out. 3rd) Caulking needing repair & replacement, house was only 6mths old. The above items were “fixed” by the builder’s site service person. Leak repair was prompt. The rest was like pulling teeth. Now our home is just over two years old and we are stuck with paying thousands of dollars to rip apart our master bathroom. The first sign of trouble was the caulking having to be replaced constantly, then the grout on the shower floor breaking up again and finally floor tiles and lower wall tiles popping off. After closer inspection we found that the wall board behind the tile was soaked and the hardpack base was crumbly and wet. We decided to remove more tiles to see just how bad it was. IT WAS BAD! We had to rip out the entire shower to the studs. Found the early stages of MOLD, dripping vapour barrier and water stained subfloor under the showers rubber liner. Water had been collecting at the bottom of the shower behind and under the tile and then sucked up (wicking) by the wall board behind eventually saturating the wall board behind the tile and then working its way back down. Since we could not find any tile to match the other tile in the bathroom we have had to replace ALL tile. This situation is the result of poor workmen ship, low quality products and service men who the builder thinks can fix everything and anything. This time a PROFESSIONAL will be completing the job with quality products. It is time that the building code be moved into this century and force these thieving homebuilders to stop building homes with inferior products and ancient practices. We also need much more strict inspectors on site. Mike Holmes is so right. Have any home you are buying new or resale inspected. We have heard from others that Mason Homes is making cuts where than can to save money. I.e.) going to minimum code for stud spacing. (increasing stud spacing from 16 inches oc to 24 inches oc is structurally acceptable and accepted by the building code) YIKES!

My partner and I recently purchased a new townhome built by Mason Homes. The Home is in Uxbridge, Ontario in a new development of theirs. I must say that the design foresight of Mason homes was terrific. Their designs are all open concept making the rooms and house feel much larger than it actually is. For example, the main living space combines kitchen, dining room, living room and breakfast nook. Also, they took the time to finish all of the small details in the house with quality. For example the windows, fireplace, light fixtures and even down to the insulated garage. Many traditional homes don't have a nice flow to them, but this house has a great open flow. The neighbourhood is all Mason built homes and they are all exceptionally built and attractive. We are very excited to move into this beautiful neighbourhood and enjoy this house.

This was the worst experience with a builder. They brag about their energy saving yet forgot to insulate 2 different walls. Until the water leaked in the bathroom and forced them to look at the wall, they refused to acknowledge any wrong doing.
In repairing it (after months of begging and pleading and being called a liar about the lack of insulation) they did come in and put in insulation. They ruined our front carpet and would not repair it, they left the walls a mess, and would not repair it and they did not return any calls after.
PATHETIC!!!!!

We had truble from the start with Mason Homes. We had d the tub in our master bathroom for a shower, the decore center had advised us that the shower would be the size of the tub it was replacing 4x5 and was stated on our documents. We ended up with a 3x4 shower. When this issue were discussed with Shawn of Mason Homes the attitude towards me the customer was just shocking!Our home was completed by the original closing date but it has been a nightmare having service work completed. I found this funny from a company that prides it's self on "customer Service" Still waiting and waiting.....

Purchased our second Mason Home. As first time home buyers we had set the bar very high with our first Home. After learning a few things and hearing some horible stories from people who had purchased from OTHER builders we felt we had made the right decision with purchasing our home with Mason Homes. Our first home from Mason had a few issues that at the end of the day were nothing compared to what we had heard about other builders. It felt like the service work was taking forever to be addressed but after speaking with the RIGHT people. (The sales and service teams are GREAT!) We had all of our concerns delt with in a reasonable amount of time. When it came time to buy a new home we looked all over Barrie and let me tell you out of all the builders we visited, Mason Homes was an easy choice hands down. The sales person, price, quality, home designs and excellent use of interior space were not to be matched by any other builder that we found in Barrie.
