Majesty Renovations 'The Bathroom & Kitchen Specialists'

Greg and Dan did a great job of completing the bathroom of our dreams. They took my design and with their amazing craftsmanship executed to perfection. Beyond the excellent tiling by Greg they blew out the wall in the bedroom to make the bathroom bigger and walking into the house you would never know otherwise. They also added all of the little finishing touches like replacing light switches and making sure the lighting was just right. My only caution is to be patient and ensure you have time to wait for the bathroom you have always wanted.

I will start this commentary by saying that I was pleased to have experience in renovations, to ensure the somewhat satisfactory end result of 3 washroom renovations. I drew up a detailed scope of work that formed part of the contract, to minimize changes that can cause delays and costs over-runs.

During the project, when I raised my concerns about quality, I was told that it was acceptable. On a few occasions I checked my opinion with others in the industry, who concurred with my position, yet it was always a tough “war of words” to get Majesty to acknowledge that the work was sub-standard, and to remedy same. My wife, who is far less “construction savvy”, began excited and in good spirits, but evolved to being very stressed and reluctant to talk to Majesty on site when I was not available, due to their approach. I found the need to be very insistent and firm with Greg/Majesty, to resolve differences of opinion on the work through the project. This made for an emotionally-tenuous environment in our home each day.

A few examples:
The mosaic tile in the shower was poorly installed – it had slid down the wall and buckled out from the wall from compression, yet I was told that it was not possible to install them any better. When I insisted, Majesty told me they could try, but I would have to pay for them to correct their mistake. I tentatively arranged for another contractor to do the work (who told me he had evidence of doing such work correctly), referred Greg to the person, and only then did he agree to rectify at his cost. They rectified satisfactorily.

Walls were painted before first ensuring the surface was smooth. The uneven areas were then sanded and patch-painted. The result was noticeable paint texture differences where the patches were painted. These were then rectified.

A mirror and a light fixture above a vanity sink were positioned off-centre. I was told that I’d advised them where to install the light and mirror before the sink was installed. I did not, because I knew that the location of the sink could vary (being told so by the independent vanity installer).

Majesty kept coming back with a list of “extra costs”, some of which I agreed with and paid for them, and others I did not agree with. At one point I was reminded by Majesty how, at the outset of the project, they reduced their price for the overall contract. In turn, I reminded Majesty that I had other contractors lined up before selecting them, and they did not have to accept my request for a lower price, but they did. Majesty denied trying to make up the discount through extras.

Workers on site: This ranged from between one up to three over the duration, and may have contributed to the 4-5 week contract becoming a 7 week contract. Consider this upheaval in one’s lifestyle, especially washrooms. In my opinion, the scope of the work did not change materially to cause this amount of time over-run.

The original agreement was that the 2nd washroom and powder room would be COMPLETE before the MES washroom was started, so that we had a washroom to use. When Majesty said “we are a couple of days away from completing your 2nd washroom and powder room, and would like to begin work in the MES” we relented. However, two weeks later, we still did not have a functionally complete 2nd washroom and powder room.

I have another tiler coming in in a couple of weeks, to remedy two areas where tiles are not laid flush.

These were my observations only, and are obviously not a reflection on what anyone else has, or may experience with Majesty Renovations.

We hired Greg and his team to redo our main bathroom as it was more than 30 years old and showing its wear and tear. Greg was always professional and so was his team. Any issues that arose were dealt with right away and Greg came in and finished the work when one of his workers couldn't.

His team were pleasant, courteous and answered any questions that we had and offered suggestions to improve the look and feel of our bathroom. We are very pleased with how it turned out and enjoy using it every day.

Our family has no issues about having Greg and his team back, and in the event that we need to do another bath or kitchen renovation they will be the ones we call.

Greg and his crew renovated two bathrooms for me at the same time. I received a few quotes for my small en-suite bathoom renovation project and selected Greg even though his quote was not the cheapest. Greg listened attentively to my ideas and offered realistic solutions. He named a few local tile and bathroom equipment stores, gave me a list of items to buy and explained what to look for. My washroom is quite small and Greg recommended that I go for a bigger shower and smaller vanity, which I have to admit was right.
Greg proved to be a reliable, professional and kind individual. He kept his time commitments and treated my renovation project as his own. Working with Greg and his team was easy and I felt taken care of at each step of the project. They kept my house clean, offered suggestions and explanations and went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied.

Greg was referred to me. After viewing his portfolio, I was confident that my bathroom would have his signature craftsmanship. Greg was professional throughout the whole process. He is very knowledgeable, & always available to answer questions. Once the project started, it was apparent that his approach matched his mission statement “to exceed our customers’ expectations”. We were referred to Greg (Majesty Renovations) by friends of our's that had a bathroom renovated and were very satisfied. After a timely quote and agreeing to a start date, Greg and his team tackled our ensuite bathroom and another 2nd floor bathroom renovation. Greg is a very down to earth, polite, respectful and honest person. His attention to detail and the finished product is evident in the excellent results. We were happy with the overall timeliness and daily cleanup. His team were also polite and respectful. He was also very helpful on ideas, suggestions and overall input whether it be on the actual renovation or all the separate purchases we were doing. Greg also did an excellent job with additional crown molding that we had done. Overall, great person to work with, knows his stuff, we're happy with the price and great results! We have no hesitation in recommending him for your project or having him back to do more work.

We had multiple companies come out to quote us when we were looking to have our En Suite Bathroom renovated. We went with Greg at Majesty Renovations as he definitely stood out during the quoting cycle. He was able to accommodate our start date, had great references, and completely understood what we were looking to achieve.
We could not have been happier with the outcome of the renovation. House was kept clean, paying special attention to our newly installed hardwood, and were always in communication with us regarding what time they would be on-site and letting us know of any items we needed to supply based on where they were in the project. They not only looked after the room they were working on, but when they were in other parts of the house, such as the attic, they also provided feedback and suggestions for other things we should address down the road.
After enjoying our new en suite bathroom, we decided to book Majesty to also handle our Main Bathroom renovation. They did not let us down on this second job and we were very happy to be dealing with Greg and Dan again.

My wife and I decided to renovate our main and ensuite bathrooms and needed the services of a qualified and dependable contractor. We realized that there were many contracting companies that would promise everything and deliver very little. So the anxiety associated with getting the right contractor became quite evident. We invited various contractors to our home and had them give us an estimate on the job and the projected time line. We met with Greg from Majesty Renovations. We learned that he had been in the business for a number of years and therefore very experienced in the field. We told Greg what we would like done and he in turn made his suggestions to ensure a successful project. We indicated that we wanted him to totally gut both bathrooms and install wall and floor tile, remove a bulkheads above both showers, install a whirlpool tub with additional electrical to the main box, wall lighting, install vanities and the plumbing associated to the washrooms. He also installed ceiling fans and new doors. Quite simply Majesty Renovations was a one stop shop and did all that was required. Greg advised us that the timeline projected would be three weeks and as such the water supply would need to be disrupted. We advised Greg that we would like to give him the key to the house and have him perform the work while we were out of the country. Greg stated that more and more of his customers were adopting that procedure. Prior to leaving we attended at a plumbing supply outlet and purchased our tub, taps and toilets. We then attended an electrical supply centre and selected the lighting for the washrooms and finally to a tile outlet and selected our floor and wall tiles. (Greg had a contact person for discounted prices on the tiles). We had all the items delivered to the home prior to the job start date and when Greg needed the items 2 for installation, they were there on hand. When we returned from our three week holiday Majesty Renovations had completed the work and to a remarkable degree of precision. Everything was installed just the way we had expected. When my wife examined the work under close scrutiny she could find absolutely nothing wrong with the work and was impressed that the house was cleared of dirt and debris and the garbage bin had been removed from the driveway. If you are reading this review, I imagine you are searching for a competent and reliable contractor that is true to his word and you probably possess some degree of anxiety after hearing horror stories about contractors that either over charge or collect and do not complete the job. Our experience with Greg and Majesty Renovations was totally anxiety free. Quite simply he does what he says he will do and within the time constraints as well as staying within the budget identified at the time of signing the contract. You may also want to speak with Greg regarding the tax saving incentives offered by the Ontario government. No other contractor we spoke with indicated that
there was tax incentives associated to items installed in the home.
In closing I will state that it is no secret why Majesty Renovations has been in business for so many years. Greg is trustworthy, reliable and true to his word. He gets the job done within the time allotted and at a fair price.

Selected Majesty after getting quotes from a few contractors to do a small bathroom renovation (replace bath and shower). Very satisfied with Greg's work and approach. He is honest and delivers what he commits to at a reasonable price. Also liked the fact he checked out our en suite shower and noticed some small problems that would have become big issues down the road and fixed them for no charge. Would definitely use Greg again.
