Full front and back yard design and interlock install

I have to say my experience with this company has been outstanding. Foti my salesperson was amazing! Friendly, quick response and true to his word. The install team was just as great. Anthony and his team were install professionals. Anthony made great suggestions and the job was done perfectly and on time. I couldn't be any happier. Thanks to you all. I would definitely recommend!!

Backyard Interlocking

We called Loc-Tite to give a quote for a backyard interlocking patio. Their salesman Jim came and was in a such a hurry to give a quote and leave as soon as possible and didn’t really pay attention to our questions. So when he came back to sign the contract, he had to backtrack on some of the work that he agreed to in the original quote. Jim confirmed we would be notified in advance when they would come, and he reconfirmed this when I called him a week later.

But 3 weeks later a crew showed up at our door unannounced to start the excavation. They made a huge mess in the front, scratched up the sidewalk of our neighbour across the street and angered them by arguing. Another crew member disturbed all my neighbours by going door-to-door to ask $20 to remove their garbage (this was during the garbage strike) and then denied doing it. They didn’t have the proper equipment to remove the tree stump or old patio frame which was part of the contract so they had to leave that uncompleted. We were told another crew would return in 2 weeks to complete the work, and we asked again that they call ahead next time.

Didn’t hear anything for 6 weeks and all emails and messages were never returned. Then after no communication for 6 weeks, we arrived home to find a crew there working. They scratched up the sidewalk of our next door neighbour this time and fought with them. They again didn’t have the proper equipment to remove the tree stump, and they brought the wrong brick. Jim had written down the wrong brick in the contract even though we were specific in what we wanted and had never considered anything else. After not being able to reach the owner until the next day to resolve this, he refused to replace the brick with the correct kind unless we paid the restocking fee. Eventually the crew came back with the correct brick to start the work after 5pm. They didn’t bring enough and had to go back for more, and they still did not have the equipment to remove the tree stump.

This was a small, simple project (19’ x 20’ square patio), but it took them 5 days! over 7 weeks to complete. They would start late each day and not finish until 9-10pm. It took them 4 days just to remove a tree stump. The owner Greg never visited the site and when I did speak to him on the phone he was extremely unprofessional, screaming and swearing at me. Salesmen Jim only cared about his commission and made false statements about what was included in the work when we signed, and then threatened to pull the crew when we called him out on what he promised. The work itself was just okay. They didn’t make any attempt to dig to a proper depth or level the patio at all and the “polymeric” sand was left partially brushed in and without beging treated with water at all. I’m sure there are much more professional companies out there that will do the same quality work for the same price.

By the way, they also have an F rating with the Better Business Bureau.

Extended Driveway & Side Walk (Markham)

I got a quote for around $3,100 for extend driveway and sidewalk. Based on the salesman, we don't need retaining walls and even brick stop and we will need only one step for the front entrance. Also, he confirmed that the grading after replacing the existing lawn & side walk by the new interlock will be almost the same. It will be very nice. We based on this, sign the contract this Sept.

Suddenly, yesterday, the installing team come in & told us that there will be extra step & retaining wall to be installed so the job will be do properly. Otherwise, the grade between the existing lawn & the new interlock will have a gap (several inches to one foot). Also, front entrance will need two steps instead of one step to fit properly.

Thanks for Gregg & Charlie. They came in separately to review the site on Tue and advised that most details are the same as original confirmation. Just some minor things to be resolved and they suggested a simple but good solution to resolve them.

Although we encountered some problems before the installation stage, Gregg & his team solve it in a timely & professional manner. In addition, they arranged their team to do the work within few days. Now, my driveway was repaired and the extended driveway and sidewalk were done as well. They look really nice (even better than I expected).

Another important thing I would like to mention. Really thanks to Anthony, Brain and Dain. Although our job is a small one, the installation team handled it patiently, the color and pattern of the interlock, the shape & color of the border they matched look amazing.

Also, after they finished the job, they cleaned up my front lawn and the road very well. Even a small puddle of soil, they removed it. I'm truly impressed by their great work.

Thanks a lot for your work. I would highly recommend Loc Tite to my family, friends and neighbours.

Driveway interlocking

LockTite may do good work but do not expect them to return if repairs are required.

I had my drive way done with Locktite 3 years ago. The job was very well done although I had to wait a while before they came to complete it. I did not mind because I believe that since I would be parking the car there occasionally the longer the area was left to settle the better.

Since then I recommend numerous clients, all of which have been very happy with the work done.

I then contracted then last year to extend my driveway further. In my opinion that work was not done as well as the first time. I noticed some irregularities in the winter and call them in March requesting repairs to the driveway. We are now in September and my repairs have not been done.
I have spoken to a number of people from Locktite including Gregg, who promised that my repairs would be done when they were in Maple. They came to Maple did a job, which by the way was one of my recommendations, and did not do my repairs.
They work until December, but it would be nice if someone would call and assure me that the repairs will be done.

I received a visit from Gregg on Saturday September 12. He came to apologize because he was told that my repairs were done the same day that the work was completed in Maple. He also mentioned that he was at a lost as to whom this was because he did not have any outstanding repairs for a Sarah.

I accepted his apologies. The repairs were done.

Interlock driveway, lawn makeover

Job quoted at $10,000 and scheduled to start in September. Show up in December (after many many phone calls to them). Totally destroy your lawn and driveway then tell you they can't do it with the price quoted. Asked for 50% extra ... job is now $15,000!! I thought I have not much of a choice but to pay them since both my driveway and lawn was destroyed. With interlock laid on frozen ground and sod laid in winter. You should now able to imagine how my driveway and lawn looks like now.

"Devoted Homeowner-2281" and "Ez-Eng Mississauga and Woodbrdige", I experienced the same issue with loc-tite as you two. One simple advise, put ALL details (no matter how minor or "common sense" it is) in writing to save yourself from trouble. Quite obviously, I didn't.

New update: A few years after this is done. A few city workers just show up at my front door telling me that the water access on my front lawn was buried by the interloc. They have to dig it up to fix it. Once again, "Great job" loctite!!

Patio

I recently had Loc-Tite do my patio and I like to share my experience with you. I saw Loc-Tite’s trucks many times in Richmond Hill and I thought it must be a good company if they can effort to have so many trucks. Also, I saw one of their jobs which I thought was pretty good. So I decided to call them. The sales man (Fortis) was very friendly and I thought the price quote he gave me was very reasonable and almost the same as the other quotes I had gotten. I signed a contract with him and gave him a deposit. A week later one day when I came home I saw that they had already done the foundation. I was a little disappointed that they had showed up and done this without even calling me to tell me that they are going to come by and do this. Anyhow, after this incident I tried to reach the sales man (Fortis) and left him a few voicemails but he never returned my call. I guess once he got his commission he did not care anymore. Three weeks later a crew of 3 guys knocked on my door at 7:00PM and they said they want to start the second phase of the job the next day. The team lead’s name was Ryan. Again, I wish they had called me a couple of days before to tell me they are coming instead of just showing up. Ryan was a very friendly guy and I could tell that he really wanted to do good work. He was working on my patio for 3 days and I was pretty happy with the result. According to the contract their work has a warranty of one year. I fully expect to call him in the spring because typically stones shift in the first winter. The true test would be if they really going to show up to fix any issues next spring. I will write in my second part of the review about their warranty.
