Kp Waterproofing

We have waited a year to post this feedback to make sure that the foundation work performed on our house by KP Waterproofing was done properly. A friend strongly recommended KP Waterproofing. We chose them because they are willing to dig by hand. This was important because our utilities are all buried beside the walls that required waterproofing. When he dropped by to offer a quote, Kris, the owner, clearly described what was required, how he and his crew would do the job, and the materials that they would use. His quote for waterproofing 45 linear feet of foundation was reasonable so we hired him on the spot. Kris and his crew of two men arrived at our house on the scheduled day, at the scheduled time. They dug with surprising speed. When the foundation was exposed, Kris showed me the problem areas (several small cracks in the foundation) and recommended extending the waterproofing an extra eight linear feet to ensure a seamless repair. His quote for the additional footage was very reasonable. Kris and his crew repaired the foundation with hydraulic cement, then coated the entire exposed area with a black tar like substance called "Aqua-Bloc 770-06" and finally, wrapped the foundation in a thick, dimpled plastic membrane called "Delta MS Housewrap". They were friendly, worked with great care and stayed on the job from early morning until late afternoon. They were here two and a half days and did a nice cleanup job when they were finished. They completed the work in April, 2012. Since then, our basement has remained totally dry despite several downpours that caused flooding in many areas of the city, including our neighbour's homes. I waited over a year to write this review because I wanted see if my basement would leak after a few rainfalls. So far, it's been dry. KP did follow up when we had a slight problem, but it was fixed promptly. Overall, KP did a great job - finished the work all in one day and the price was reasonable.

Having employed KP Waterproofing to do several waterproofing jobs on previous homes, I felt VERY confident that he would do an equally professional job on my back parking pad. The parking pad I had was cracked and weeds were growing through in spots. There was also a flower bed that I wanted removed so I could make my parking pad larger. Chris and his 2 crewmen did a wonderful job. We discussed many details before he started: how much of the original concrete should remain; whether or not to put a short concrete wall along the length of the garage floor so that the wood posts and bottom plates of side walls wouldn't make direct contact with the ground; whether the concrete wall should be made of concrete block or poured concrete; how deep the gravel layer would be; how much concrete would be poured; how long the driveway would be blocked off while the cement truck was churning out the cement; where to place the disposal bin so that I could continue to park in the back; how many days I'd have to park on the street while the concrete cured; where the rebars would be placed; which way the pad would slope and how it would integrate with the surrounding properties ... I was so pleased with Chris' price that I asked him to also:
1. form some terrace steps for me (17 feet wide steps!) to the parking pad
2. Remove and replace a concrete block wall in the exterior stairwell to my basement
3. Parge the walls leading to my basement so they don't look so dreary
4. Waterproof a small section of my basement wall (6 foot section that they had to dig down to the footings to waterproof with parge, tar and membrane)

All of the above work was done as promised and with his usual attention to detail. His workmanship and timeliness are reasons enough to hire Chris for any waterproofing or concrete work. The added bonus is that Chris is SO easy to talk to. I'm a woman and have worked with many contractors. Some men are not comfortable dealing with women; Chris is not this way at all. He treats all his customers (I've referred him to many over the years) with respect. He's fair and punctual, communicative and kind. He doesn't try to gouge his customers. Many years ago, I referred him to friends of mine that had a leak in a section of their basement wall. My friends had obtained quotes from other companies -- all in the $10K to $30K range. They asked me for my advice and I told them to call KP. Chris quoted them $800, telling them they only needed to waterproof a small section of their basement wall -- not the entire wall and certainly not the entire basement -- as others had advised them. My friends called me and asked, "Is this guy for real? The other quotes are exorbitant! Does he really know what he's doing?" I told him that he's been in the business so long that he probably trained some of the guys that were giving them the exorbitant quotes. They went with KP and their basement has been dry since.

If you want a professional job done by someone you can trust at a price that you can afford, Chris really is the guy to go to. My only hesitation in writing such an honest and positive review is that Chris will be too busy to do my jobs in the future. But he's an honest man and deserves an honest review. -- Cecilia

Chris called back quickly, and came to our house on time the next day. He figured out that our problem is our eavestroughs, and that we don't need his waterproofing services. And he was honest in telling us that! He has saved us from spending thousands. If I ever do need waterproofing, I will definitely call Chris!

I had a small leak in the unfinished section of my basement of my detached home in Toronto. It was always bothersome and I finally decided to waterproof the whole house as a preventative measure.

Kris and KP Waterproofing were the hardest working and most reasonably priced team I could have asked for. They did the job in a timely manner (4 days) and met the highest quality standards. They were clean, polite and very thoughtful to all the neighbors as this was a large job.

KP Waterproofing exceeded my expectations, and I would refer Kris to anyone who is looking to protect one of their most valuable investments.

I have always had a great experience with Kris and his team. I have hired Kris twice (2009 and 2011) and have had a great experience each time. On his most recent job, Kris and his team came in, and worked a solid 3 days, and completed the job on time and on budget, without sacrificing quality. A very professional team, and would highly recommend them. It is reassuring that there are still companies like KP Waterproofing out there doing business.

This job resquired a seasoned professional and we were lucky to meet Mr. Pietrzyk across the street doing our neighbour's house. His crew tackled and efficiently removed tonnes of dirt and fixed our walls to prevent any leakage into our finished basement. We asked for extra gravel and he was very accomodating. K P waterproofing also made sure tthe crew handled all the heavy equipment with safety especially on a busy street with a lot of children. Thank you for exceeding all expectations and finishing the project on time without problems.

When I noticed I had water coming into my basement when it rained, I called around to several waterproofing companies. Kris from KP Waterproofing was able to give me a quote right away that beat all the other quotes and I had heard from my friend that he was very happy with the work Kris had done for him. Kris is very professional and went above and beyond to ensure the job was done right and it was completed when he said he would be. I'm very happy with the results.

We had to do basement waterproofing on all 4 exterior walls. We had a total of 4 estimates, including the one from KP Waterproofing. Kris from KP Waterproofing gave us a 10% lower estimate than the lowest of the previous 3 estimates.

The team started the job on a Monday and finished next week on Tuesday. They couldn’t work one day because of the rain and Sunday it was half day work because of another commitment.

KP Waterproofing team started every day just a few minutes before 8:00 AM.
They waterproofed all around the house: applied aquablock, installed membrane, installed new wiping tile and installed aluminum window wheels. They also build a nice window wheel made of 4x4 for the front basement window.

Cleanup at the end of job was thorough. Inside garage walls were washed and driveway was also washed.

This was probably one of the best experiences I have ever had dealing with a contractor. I would rate KP 11 out of 10 if possible. Kris was always punctual, reliable and available to respond to my concerns. His crew completely excavated around the perimeter of my house, waterproofed, laid membrane and weeping tiles, backfilled the entire perimeter, demolished and removed the old concrete walkway and poured a new concrete walkway extending from the city sidewalk to the back of the house. His crew worked efficiently and all aspects of the job were completed within several days. They were neat and clean and kept the property in immaculate condition. My property was in a better condition after their work was completed. They returned (as promised) 2 months after the waterproofing was completed (to allow for settling) and completed the concrete walkway. Kris' policy of not accepting payment until the job was completed and I was satisfied, gave me confidence in his ability to provide the service that I needed. I AM THRILLED TO PAY HIM FOR WHAT HE PROVIDED!! I found his quote acceptable and reasonable for the scope of the work that was performed. KRIS AND KP WATERPROOFING RECEIVE MY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATIONS!!!
