Kelly's Heating

My first time ever writing a Homestar's review. Glad to write a superb review for J.Kelly. Both Joe and Neil Kelly, along with their crew, were professional, honest and reliable. If you value customer-service, I highly recommend using J.Kelly.

J. Kelly's is the company I've been trying to find for years. With constant heating and air conditioning problems, I have used several companies in the past. Every time I was either disappointed or the company was over-worked resulting in delays and forgetfulness. Kelly's called me back right away, came the same day and identified the problem fast and accurately. As someone who charges by the hour, I am very aware of what you can and cannot conscientiously charge for service. I can tell you, they were more than fair with their billing. They were waiting for a part, and due to no fault of their own it took a little longer than expected to arrive. When it arrived they came immediately, and I do mean immediately. They could have waited until the next morning, which would have been impressive enough, but they brought it that same evening, after hours . . . with no after hours charge. I have definitely found the company I will be calling (and referring people to) from now on. Thanks Neil, and please thank your highly professional, and extremely personable, staff!

I am in the HVAC field for many years. I found the enthusiasm and workmanship of the two technicians were outstanding. When I asked them about little details, Scott, the senior technician answered my questions with interest and without hesitation. He would make a great spokesperson for J. Kelly's Heating!

The company ethics were also outstanding. It was discovered by Kelly's Heating that the furnace just installed was not the model I ordered but one step down. The average layperson, cannot tell the difference. However, Neil Kelly called and rectified the mistake the next day. The furnace was exchanged with the correct model and was reinstalled with the same great attention to detail.
There was also a minor issue about thermostat wiring and Neil Kelly addressed it immediately.

For a change, I had a pleasant experience!

We needed to put some new radiators in our basement. They did a good job, the price seemed reasonable compared to others we had been quoted. We were happy in the end.

During this recent heat wave (made official today by the weather service), our AC went on the fritz. Realizing that all the HVAC companies would be busy, i threw out a net and called or emailed about 10 different companies. Funny enough Neil was the first to respond, so we booked an appointment. Their tech showed up, and quickly assessed the issue.....not good news at all!! The compressor had siezed up, and it needed to be replaced or the whole unit needed to be replaced.
I was under the assumption that our unit outside was new, having bought the house only 5 years ago, and that it would be a warranty issue. Turns out it wasn't!! When they renovated the house they upgraded the furnace only.
To make a long story short, neil very quickly drew up a quote for both replaceing the faulty compressor and installing a new unit.
The crew (Sasi and Justin) were prompt, courteous and worked quickly. They also answered all the questions I could think to ask. The new unit was installed in under 8 hours in the crazy heat.

Enbridge decided to change my meter and then when they came back to turn on the gas, they red tagged me for the gas pipe entering my house not being to code. Don't understand why not.

Nonetheless, when I was looking for someone to call, I generally prefer word of mouth over sites (even Homestars, which I use as a second check), and I colleague in my office recommended J. Kelly's. I spoke with Neil and scheduled an appointment to check out the issue and at the same time, he booked me a second appointment 2 days later (July 17, 2013) in case I was going to go forward with him.

Given my situation and the code violation, Neil Kelly clearly explained the issue and potential outcomes. On Monday, Joe (Kelly) came out inspected it and gave me an quick estimate and said that Neil will write it up and send it to me (via email). After seeing the quote, I went forward with J. Kelly.

The day of service, J.Kelly sent out Vas (and his apprentice, I believe) to do the work. They explained everything to me clearly, understood what needed to be done and took care to clean up the site (inside and outside) of my house. I found them very professional and trustworthy.

Mr Kelly was important part of the inspection process of my home purchase since he pointed out recommendations which we asked Joe to implement some time after buying the house. He took steps to address the important legacy airflow issues and we noticed this past winter significant improvements in air flow and heat comfort. Very knowledgeable about different systems - JY

Great company to deal with- knowledgeable and reliable. They explain all costs and procedures when they do the quote, so no surprises and encourage the customer to ask questions.
The day of installation the crew was prompt and courteous. They worked non-stop and they tried to minimize their presence at all times in the house.
They cleaned up after themselves and took away the old scrap from the previous furnance. There was one very minor hiccup that needed to be addressed after the installation was complete. The crew was promptly back the next day and promptly finished the project.
Great company to work with, don't hesitate to give Neil or Joe a call.

Within weeks of moving into our new house we discovered our a/c did not work, and unfortunately it was in the midst of a heat wave. Given the cost involved we got 3 quotes, one from the company rated highest on home stars, J Kellys who was local and knew the homes in the area and an expert in attic units. We went with Joe hands down. The other companies sent their sales person instead of the person doing the work, the difference in the estimates was astounding. Joe spoke in plain language, offered great advice and in the end installed it in half the time getting it done just before another heatwave. The team were on time and thorough, Joe did the work himself which made us feel like it was going to be done right. we've been living with the a/c and couldn't be happier, EVERY room feels cool!

J Kelly's is the best company out there. J Kelly has such experience yet also keeps up to date with the latest technology. He was in for another heating related job and he noticed we were doing a larger basement renovation...he took it upon himself to recommended a new heating system that would give us substantially more height in our basement as it would eliminate the huge pipes we had- and more importantly that we thought we had to keep! Thank goodness for him! He completely changed out entire basement design with that recommendation. He and his son are reliable and on time fore every job we have given them. I would recommend him time and again!

He is particularly good in the yonge and lawrence/ leaside area as he really understands these old homes and radiant heating!
