Hickory Dickory Decks

We had our composite deck designed and installed by the crew at Hickory Dickory Decks. Their knowledge on their products is amazing. The crew that did the job was professional, friendly and skilled in their trade. The final result was so impressive 3 neighbours ended up getting their decks done by them too!

We removed our old decks and hired Hickory Dickory Decks to install a new two level deck using artificial (plastic) wood. It is a very large deck that stretches the entire width of house. (approx 35 feet) We were very impressed with the questionaire and thorough ordering process. Adam Malley did a great job to walk us through the pricing process & gave us the opportunity to review previous projects and talk to previous clients. The installer did an amazing job. He was very quick and worked long days. The finished product was very impressive. He kept the worksite clean at the end of each day. He even took the time to fix our broken gate.

Hickory Dickory Decks does not complete the work. They failed to build our deck according to building codes says our town building inspector. They failed to call the inspector after the work was completed to have it inspected. Now a few years later the town is after us to made changes to it. Hickory Dickory Decks is ignoring us and says it is their contractors who are not in business anymore. The warranty is with them not Hickory Dickory Decks. Buyer beware, they push off these matters to their employees or contractors. My contact is with them. I don't care who they hire to work for them. They are now ignoring phone calls and my emails to them. I see other complaints registered with the BBB and I've done the same. Next step is small claims court.

UPDATE:March 22 2012

YOU applied to the Town of Aurora for a work permit and YOU did NOT call and close it after the work was done. If you did, they would have been here to inspect it. The permit is under your name and the work is under your company name. Hickory Dickory Decks is "a franchise system and the deck was built by a franchisee that is no longer in business" So what your really telling customers is that others can use your name, you apply for construction permits but don't stand behind the work. Just blame it on a franchisee. Wow, I'm sure this will make other feel much better about dealing with your company. Great way to wash your hands of any problems.

With the many deck companies out there it is very hard to decide who to trust with your project. We went with Hickory Dickory Decks because the price was fair and they came recommended. The service and workmanship was outstanding.

John and his crew were terrific. They were very accommodating, and did a top-notch job. We definitely got our money's worth. Our deck is looking beautiful after a year, and we still call John for all kinds of jobs. They did a great job with several doors around our basement. Highly recommended!

I heard about Hickory Dickory Decks from the Brock Windows contractor who highly recommended this company to us. Based on that, last year I called Adam for a quote who listened to what we needed and gave us two different designs. We picked one and asked for a few changes. The cost is within our budget. Although in the beginning there was a misunderstanding in the specs, Adam was willing to work with us to resolve the issue. Matt and Devin were professional and courteous. They arrived and started early in the days. My neighbors complimented that they were very nice people. The final work was nothing less than perfect and was exactly what we wanted. This shows that they not only treat their projects as work but put their hearts into them as well. We were very please with the workmanship. As a result, this year when we built the walkway and new steps to the backyard and deck, we asked Adam to build a new gate and fence and coverings for the two pillars in the porch for us. We coordinated with them and the other contractors. The result was another beautiful work. We are very glad to let his prospective clients to see our deck as they deserve having more business coming their way. Thank you Adam and Matt.

I visited the Hickory Dickory Decks and had a nice man come to our house and measure and help us with ideas for a new deck. He was very helpful and friendly! The showroom in Waterdown is amazing too! They have a large building with decks for you to look at and get neat ideas for your deck.

HDD was on time, on budget, came when they said they would, did a fabulous job. The deck will likely outlast the house.They worked wit us to design just what we wanted, and did not complain about all the changes we asked for.Would absolutely recommend.

They were very patient & accommodating with changes to our design and they were also helpful in suggesting solutions that met our needs.I would recommend both the East and West crews.

They designed a stand-alone deck for our above-ground pool.

They were great in working through 3 or 4 various designs with us as we worked toward a budget and design that was affordable and met our needs.

We also want to thank Tom for the actual deck work. He was friendly, answered questions and did a great job. He was on-site for 3 or 4 days working independently.

Overall we are very pleased with the whole project and would recommend Hickory-Dickory Decks to friends and relatives.
