Clera Windows + Doors

Well I can't give a review on the quality of workmanship or the finished product because we are still waiting for the install to begin. The latest 'update' will put us at 15 weeks after the contract signing. The contract listed 6-7 weeks & the salesman said maybe 5 weeks but there has been one 'reason' after another for the delay. Unfortunately, to add insult to injury, I had to start calling the salesman after week 10 for an update. Thankfully, the job is small - our original intention was to complete the entire house (even had a quote for all windows) with FM if we were happy - not gong to happen!!

I ordered three special sized doors to replace my old ones and had to pay extra money as well as wait 9 weeks. FM Industries installed two standard size doors instead and has refused to do anything about it. I can't get my furniture out of my basement now! I have been insulted, ignored, degraded and even threatened by one employee! Two months later and so far the manager has not contacted me to resolve this. I am now writing a letter to the vice president and later to the BBB and a consumer protection agency if I don't get what I paid for.

FM windows were on time to start their installation. They replace all the windows in timely manner. We felt the difference as we do not hear anything from outside after installation. Installers were very professional and polite. They clean all the mess after installation. Installer Ranjan was amazing and he knows the art of caulking. I highly recommend FM windows to all my friends and relatives.

I wasn't as fortunate as other reviewers. The installation of my FM Industry (Clera) windows was completely botched. The windows themselves are fine, but the installation was a complete joke. The capping slopes in and water pools on the sill. Ice forms inside due to lack of insulation - no insulation on some windows or on the door frame - confirmed by third party installers and by a recent NRCan energy audit which failed a blower door test. Massive air infiltration was confirmed around all windows and the front door. Repeated efforts to rectify the poor installation have fallen on deaf ears. Very frsutrated and disappointed.

UPDATED Jan 05, 2010 – I'm into my third winter with these windows and am very disappointed with the performance. Ice forms on the inside of the windows (not water, but ice), cold air still comes in under the front door sill, and it is very uncomfortable to sit anywhere near a window. I'm truly amazed that anyone would rate these windows with top marks. I must have received a dud batch because mine are worse than the 20 year old wooden windows I replaced.

F M installed 3 windows and a patio door Nov 22 2006. Returned within weeks to fix door lock by adjusting catch. Returned that spring and loosened catch further so now it stuck out even more. Door still wasn't locking by late fall so I called Nov 2007 and left a detailed message as instructed. Nobody returned call. Called again Feb 2008 and was told I would have to pay for a service call even though this was an on going problem. I now had a door that didn't lock, a screen that you had to close twice to fit into the pocket and plugs falling out of the frame. When I purchased with F M Industries I liked the quality of their product and they came highly recommended but I didn't feel I had the same experience. Update: We just wanted to add that once FM Industries were made aware in writing of the exact problem we were having with or patio door, they fixed it in a prompt and courteous manner. It was an easy repair that just took a little time and in no way reflected on the exceptional quality of their windows and doors. We became very concerned when our installation date had to be re-scheduled, but after a telephone call to the VP we were assured that the job would start on the following week and that we had one of the best teams performing our installation. The job involved 3 cut outs to make our windows larger. The installation crew arrived on time and once they started we believed that in fact we did have an extremely professional crew and as a result we are so delighted with the overall job we have been recommending FM to our family, friends and neighbors.

FM Windows installers took pride in workmanship and did a great job !Sales manager was extremely helpful and managed the project very very professionally. I referred FM Windows to a couple of neighbors
who also are using them.

I just had to write a quick review to let you know pleased we are with our new windows and doors. We can't believe how beautiful the house looks or how much warmer it is!!! The installers were wonderful and worked non-stop! They cleaned up after themselves and rechecked all their work. We are truly pleased with the products and service we received from FM. We have already and will continue to recommend your company.

We are extremely pleased with out new windows and doors. They look beautiful and the house is so much warmer. The installers were very professional, worked non stop, and cleaned up after themselves. It only took 2 days to get the whole job done. We definitely recommend their services.
