Hardwood Refinishing

I have used this company twice in different homes. The first home was a huge project where we had to move out. All floors and staircase was sanded, stained, and finished. It was a 10 day project and they were ready to start as soon as we moved out and finished right on time. Some of the stain had bled onto the white risers and Wally Darmaga, when informed, said that wasn't acceptable and hired a painter to come and repair the work. The finish and quality of all surfaces was excellent!

Hardwood flooring

We ordered hickory hardwood for our living and dining rooms from Darmaga and were very pleased with the service we received.

The staff were very helpful when we visited the showroom. The cost they offered was significantly less than what we were offered by a different supplier for the exact same product.

When we were ready to order, our order was promptly and professionally taken over the phone and the product was shipped the next day - with no delivery charge. (We did not have Darmaga do the installation.)

We definitely plan on using this supplier again when we renovate other rooms in our house.

New hardwood flooring

We had new Maple hardwood flooring installed on most of the second floor of our house. It really looks superb. The installation team was fast, efficient, tidy and professional. They are a credit to the company. The front office was excellent as well.

Complete hardwood floor replacement

“When I purchased my new home from a builder in Shelburne, I was aware that there might be some small details that would need to be addressed. However, the beautiful hardwood flooring installed in this house was not one of them. After moving in though, it became another story, the finish on the floor started to deteriorate quite rapidly.

A call to the builder yielded the name and phone number of the flooring contractor. Amazingly, after only one phone call to Darmaga Hardwood Flooring; the owner of the company himself (Wally Darmaga) arranged to come out and inspect the floor.

Upon inspection, he immediately determined that there was a problem that couldn’t be rectified cosmetically. He then arranged with the builder to have all my furniture removed from the entire main floor of my house and Darmaga Flooring replaced the entire floor at no cost or obligation to me.

This was done efficiently, and with no damage to anything else in my house.

I hereby wish to acknowledge Mr. Darmaga and his team for delivering service way way beyond expectations in this day and age.”

supply and install of hardwood flooring, ~350 sq feet

We shopped around extensively for hardwood for our main floor. This was just a small part of overall reno's. We decided to "outsource" the supply & install together, rather than having our general contractor lay the floor. We thought that this was too important a job, we wanted to be sure it was done correctly with long-term accountability. The sales people at Darmaga were helpful and patient. We dealt with Craig and someone else (either Anthony or Tom). The gentleman who came to measure and estimate was pleasant & competent. We purchased a product by a well-known Canadian manufacturer, deciding not too cheap out too much. The install however was just "OK" for us - although we know that the installer was very experienced. Initially we were excited to know that he would be doing our floors, but unfortunately he didn't really answer our questions, we felt he rushed the job and unnecessarily wasted a lot of wood. Of course, we're not experts, but for a simple, rectangular room, he seemed to have a lot of cuts and excess waste. For some reason, we didn't see the "pride of workmanship" we had expected. Maybe this job was too boring for him - from what we understand he does a lot of "fancy" work / more intricate installs. We also had some issues with the cost of the job - funky accounting (?) that resulted in what I believe is extra tax being paid (extra tax that technically shouldn't be there). The price we were quoted in-store isn't ultimately what we paid. I didn't pursue or push the issue - we just needed to move on to the next task. I believe we overpaid by a few hundred dollars. The finished product looks fine, I'm just not "wowed" by the whole experience. Having said that, I do feel though that if we have issues with the floors in the future, Darmaga will stand behind their work because overall they seem to be running a legimate, long-lasting operation; I probably would go back to them for future jobs. I'll just be more upfront and be less of a push-over!

Purchased Engineered Hardwood

I bought about $2000 worth of preengineered hardwood from Darmaga - Torly's brand. We went there twice to make a selection. They let us take home samples so that we could the wood in the natural lighting. Service was good, they even price matched for us cause we comparison shopped. We bought some additional pieces, such as a stairnose and t-molding. My only complaint is that the wood is a bit cheap (very thin) and scuffs easily.

Living Room/Dining Room floors

From the beginning to the end of the process all of the people were very nice. The floors were pre cut and installed in less than one day. Everything was left very neat and without any damage. The floors look great and so easy to keep clean. Very pleased with the product.

Hardwood Floor Installation

Darmaga installed hardwood floors on the first floor and the upstairs family room of our townhouse. The floors look great and the installers were very professional and did an excellent job.

Their estimators are very honest--when they came out to measure the floor and give us an estimate they didnt try to "upsell" us on additional features that we didnt need/want.

The only complaint I have about Darmaga is that some of the in store staff are a bit "cranky" but the great installers and estimators make up for any short comings of their other staff.

I would definitely use Darmaga for future flooring projects. You are probably going to pay a bit more for the hardwood and installation than you would at some of the big box stores but the quality of the hardwood flooring(which is made in Canada) and the skill of their installers make it worth the extra money.

Expect to pay about $10/sq foot for their cheapest solid hardwood flooring (including installation)

Hardwood Flooring

Darmaga Hardwood Flooring in Richmond Hill, ON. recently installed hardwood flooring in my kitchen/family room. The experience was excellent at at levels. Their showroom in very expansive and well laid out; the floor staff were extremely helpful and answered all questions truthfully and with knowledge of the product and its installation. The prices were competitive or better than the competition. The installation process was extremely well done. The installer arrived on time. He was very pleasant and answered any questions I had. Throughout the day he kept cleaning up so the dust did not cover everything. When he left the house was spotless. An excellent job overall. I highly recommend this company.
