Bad service

They put the wrong colour shingles and lesser quality on the roof. Terrible experience with them, they refused to fix it. Make sure you go to Better Business Bureau to check all the complaints about them and decide if you want to take the risk.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY

My spouse and I (30 years old, working professionals) live in Guelph, we unfortunately went with Daneglo for roof and eavestrough replacement. The work they did on our home was sub par to say the least. Pick any item below and ask yourself if there is a better option out there:

- Major red flag, they left moldy plywood on our roof structure when that was part of the quote to have replaced as it was a health concern. They replaced some boards but obviously tried cutting corners and left old plywood and thought we wouldnt notice
- Exposed plywood on the exterior and missing flashing, this will cause water damage
- New solar Vents were put in the wrong spots, this is such a simple thing to correct but they didnt, inefficient and a waste of money
- When the roof was finished they missed an entire row of shingles?
- We had them blow in insulation for our attic space, it looked like they went wild with a blower and didn't know what they were doing, super low spots and high spots, inefficient
- The roofing crew left a HUGE mess, I expected some cleanup and my own walk around for nails, this was extremely messy though. The completed roof was littered with nails, eaves were full of nails, screws, and scrap shingle pieces, shards of scrap metal from eaves installer (we have kids, there was tiny scrap metal and nails all over our yard)
- Their dump bin sat on our driveway overflowing for an additional week after I kept telling them to pick it up
- BIGGEST red flag. I emailed them and mentioned a few things needed to be looked at, we even had plans for future business on our windows and doors. So I thought they would fix a few of our concerns. They DID NOTHING, emailed and texted a few times, dragged me along and no responses at all now. Sad, not sure how local companies get away with this
- Finally I emailed there main contact in hopes we could settle, still no response. Its clear this company does NOT CARE

Roofing

This company left several hundred dollars of damage to my driveway and lawn while reroofing the neighbour's property. They brought heavy equipment across without our permission and despite 3 calls and a letter with photo proof don't even have the professional courtesy to respond. Do not use this company unless you want a shoddy job and problems with your neighbours.

Roof replacement incorrectly done

Wouldnt use Dangelo and sons ever again even if they were the last roofing company left on face of earth
They take your money and dont finish the job. 10 months later despite many calls and many promises from them still waiting for my solar fan to be installed. The one I paid for but they installed on my neighbors roof instead.

Roof is leaking

After only 7 years my roof sprung a leak and my siding job does not look any better.
Ive had nothing but trouble with everyone at this company, no one cares about the poor workmanship they do.
I know this company will do nothing because of how I have been treated in the past.
I write this review in hopes that someone reads it and does not use this awful company.
I have hundreds of pictures but here are two.

Roofing

I called D'Angelo following the storm of May 21, , 2022, to replace all the shingles on the roof of my home. Although i had a quote for less money, I felt more confident with Jamie the sales rep, and particularly the lifetime guarantee that D'Angelo can offer as a larger company. They were onsite within a month and Derek and his team did a great job. There was some minor follow up work that was finished within a week by Steve. The clean up was great and I know i won't have to worry about replacing the roof again for a very, very long time. Many thanks to the D'Angelo team for a job well done!.

Siding, Soffit & Gutter replacement

This project was to remove our 40 year old siding, along with the soffit and gutters. Our goal was to improve air tightness and keep critters out. As a bonus, if asthetics could be improved along the way, why not?

My sincere thanks to Steve (Sales) for your patience with all our questions and Brad (PM) for keeping us in the loop every step of the way. Chad, you and your crew did a great job to get the siding replaced and the work area cleaned up, before our backyard birthday party as promised. Rocky - thanks for going the extra mile to make sure the lighting was done just right!

This is our second project with D'Angelo & Sons, which again, was delivered the project on time and on budget. More important than the asthetic improvement from the new siding (which you were right about, Steve!), the house is noticably more comfortable inside, due to the air barrier and insulation added.

If I hear of anyone looking for a good contractor for roofing or siding work, I will definitely recommend D'Angelo & Sons.

UNETHICAL AND UNPROFESSIONAL DEALING

BACKGROUND
In early Spring 2022, I hired DAngelo Roofing to instal DoublePro gutter-guards to my bungalow gutters. They did no post-installation inspection with me, and I found out on my own that: L-shaped aluminum bases at every corner were missing; overlaps were improperly screwed down, allowing leaves and other debris to accumulate in the gutters; and, splash guards were missing at the bottom of roof valleys. I understood the problems from reviewing the installation instructions posted on the manufacturers website, Alu-Rex. I also reviewed their warranty and was alarmed to find that my installation deficiencies would exclude me from succeeding with a warranty claim years later if the gutter-guards failed, e.g., openings at overlaps, corners, etc. could not exceed 7/64 sq. in. My openings mostly failed to meet this standard because a single screw was used to close them versus two as required.

I complained to DAngelo, using photos to illustrate the deficiencies. At first, the company insisted the installation met requirements but then, they sent the images to their Alu-Rex rep, who also made the same assertion seated in Montreal. I however, persisted and in early November 2022, the rep wrote me to say he will visit in Spring 2023 to examine the installation.

JULY 2023 FOLLOWUP
Eight months later, the Montreal Alu-Rex regional rep showed up to investigate my gutter-guard complaint. His method was to walk around the house to do so. I strongly objected. I loaned him my ladder, he climbed up at the front entrance, looked around for 15 seconds, descended and declared Theres nothing wrong with the installation! A serious argument between us followed.

Two weeks later, Gary, DAngelos Service Rep, visited and installed the missing L-shaped aluminum base at all 14 inside and outside gutter corners, as the Alu-Rex rep advised him to. Gary also used three screws to securely close the overlaps, thus preventing leaves and debris from entering the gutter system. In addition, he flushed out accessible debris from the gutters and installed splash guards at inside corners and valleys. Garys attentive work is a credit to him personally and not to DAngelo, whose low Google rating I have left unchanged.

The bottom line for homeowners is: when engaging any gutter guard installer, do your homework and know what should be installed and how. Demand an inspection before the installer leaves and demand corrective work before you make your final payment. Most of all, dont accept after-installation assurances that if theres ever a performance problem the manufacturer will stand behind its product; manufacturer warranties specifically dont protect against shoddy installation. I have not dismissed the likelihood that the manufacturers intervention in an installer repair situation is a game played between them at the customers expense.
