We relied on Carson Dunlop to do a proper home inspection as part of our due diligence.
We asked them to specifically assess a number of items including a radiant floor heating system, mould and pest infestation. We received a very favourable report on these items.
Upon closing of the home purchase we found, the radiant floor heating system had a leak, likely for over a year, causing a great deal of water intrusion beneath the floor, and major mould migration up all the walls in the area.
The inspector noted minor evidence of mouse activity, but upon closing, we found major infestation.
We would not have purchased this house had we known these issues. These issues have forced us to spend well over $300,000.00 in remediation costs and have kept us out of our home for over 6 months as it was unliveable.
This company puts reports together that appear great and satisfy the banks and real estate agents. They do not really do the work they claim. Very negligent and costly.
