Beach Hardwood Flooring

We needed the exisiting hardwood floors in our home removed and replaced with new oak floors. We contacted Beach Hardwood Flooring and their quote was middle of the road, but they seemed like they would do a good job and had references so we went with them.

The trouble started when it came time to work around the many doors, thresholds, and stairwells that occur in our, and any normal home. While Peter and Bill did an acceptable job of installing the floor (although they did install "green" and damaged peices of wood despite our requets not to) their carpentry work is the worst we have seem of any contractor to date.

Two major problems:

First, they took a saws-all to the bottom of our antique pocket doors (without asking us first) and hacked the bottom off of the doors in a wavy and crooked line -- they didn't even draw a line first or make any atempt to remove the doors to ensure a clean cut. Many little mishaps occured in the meantime, too many to list, but all involved lazy and/or unskilled carpentry and finishing work.

Then, after job was done and it came time to re-install the stairwell bannister we were informed that the flooring they had installed in that area was not at all level, and made the proper re-installation of the bannister and spindles impossible. We asked Peter to come by and fix the problem, his answer was to just cut the bottom of the spindles on an angle to accomodate the now crooked floor!... We said this was un acceptable, the slope which they had created needed to be corrected... he refused to fix his mistake, we insisted that he try, his answer was "Well then sue me".

Overall one of the worst experiences we have ever had with a contractor. Peter had no idea how to manage a situation where he had made a mistake, he was very inflexible and rude about it, and took our money and ran with it.

I needed new hardwood and he was very helpful and friendly. He explained to me the different types and everything looked great when the job was completed. I would strongly recommend him to anyone who needs quality woork on a budget!

We contacted Beach Hardwood Flooring to repair and refinish our 80+ year old floors. We couldn't have been more pleased with the results. Peter came to give us an estimate within 24 hrs. of contacting him. The work was started within a few weeks and was done in about one week, keeping the upset and stress of this kind of project to a minimum. We had several areas where patching was needed and this was done seamlessly. One cannot see where the old floor ends and the new begins.
We now have beautiful floors and are often asked if they are new. We can't recomend Beach Hardwood Flooring highly enough.

We had just taken possession of our first home, a semi detached in Danforth village. We wanted to refinish the hardwood floors -> we called several companies for quotes. Two would not even entertain refinishing -> only replacing and at a high cost/ sq foot.

Peter from Beach Hardwood came by, he was punctual and willing to explain the work. Beach quoted us with a very competitive rate for the work... they would pick up and install the hardwood I bought myself. This project seemed like it was going to be very hassle free!!

However, there were a couple of "hiccups" along the way. The work began just before Xmas and was scheduled to be complete before January 2nd.
The job ended up taking over a month. We had to call them back in three times to fix some issues... which they did thankfully.

Overall, I would have rated Beach lower if Bill had not made such an effort to correct the problems we had... I know alot of companies would just ignore the calls.

So, if you are looking for hardwood floor work, I would definitely call Beach Hardwood... their prices are competitive and the quality of work is very good. Just be cautious to ensure you hold them to timelines and your expectations of what work is to be completed.

Beach flooring did an excellent job in our home. They provided an estimate after looking through our home and it was very reasonable compared to other estimates we received. They were very flexible setting a time and date to do the job and we where able to have the floor installed within 2 days or estimate. very profesional work and we love the floor.

Anyone considering hiring Beach Hardwood Flooring for hardwood installation beware of very poor qaulity of workmanship and customer service. We hired Beach Hardwood to refinish old hardwood in our house. We were reasonably happy with the quality of the work and had confidence in the this company's skills and knowledge. We asked Beach Hardwood to install new hardwood in one bedroom, including three steps and this turned out to be a complete mess and a very stressful disappointment for us. The steps leading into the bedroom now look like a bad puzzle and are the first thing you notice when entering the room. The job on the steps was obviously carelessly performed and we were left in the state of shock over complete disrespect for our property and investment. The stains from the wood dough covering the nails were left all over the steps and my husband had to sand the spots at least three times to fade them. The stains are still very visible but we cannot sand them more without damaging the wood.

Being quite inexperienced in dealing with contractors and having trust in Beach Hardwood we paid the full amount as agreed. When we tried to dsicuss the possiblity of correcting the job, the owner bluntly told us that it could not have been done better and our best solution was using DAP on all gaps....some pictures to follow....

I was exceptionally impressed with the work that Peter and Bill did on my hardwood floors. They restored them and modernized them at the same time by staining them a lovely cinnamon colour. They were extremely professional and I felt completely confident with them from my initial meeting with Peter. I highly recommend Beach Hardwood Flooring and plan on calling them back in the future to install hardwood in my bedrooms.
