Astron Electric Limited

I just wanted to say how pleased I was with the level of service I received from Astron Electric. They arrived exactly when they said they would and charged me exactly what they quoted. (Sadly, I can't say the same for other contractors I've used in the past). Further, I found the electricians at Astron to be very courteous, professional and above all clean. In short, I was thoroughly pleased with this contractor and would highly recommend them to anyone who wants the job done right the first time!

Called Astron to upgrade my electrical system.. During the inspection, Ted told me that most of my outlets were not grounded (which we knew going in) and my outdoor outlets were not to code (also He was very thorough and gave me a reasonable quote on the spot. Moses and crew did a very thurough job. Walked me through every change they made. I am very happy with the finished prodcut and the work. I would recommend Astron Electric Ltd.

There is a problem somewhere in our wiring that causes a breaker to short during heavy rains. The rep from Astron replaced the breaker for $80 and didn't investigate further (he said he'd "changed some wiring" to fix the problem). Weeks later, during another heavy rain, the breaker blew again. I phoned Astron and the woman said she'd pass along the work order. No one phoned back. I phoned again. And again. Five times in total.

Fail. Even if they'd decided the problem was more trouble than it was worth, it is unprofessional to simply decide to ignore a client, without advice or referral to another electrician.

I hired Astron to upgrade my electrical system and get rid of any knob and tube. During the inspection, Ted told me that most of my outlets were not grounded (scary!) and my outdoor outlets were not to code (also scary!). He was very thorough and gave me a reasonable quote on the spot.

Peter, Paul (and a third fellow) were wonderful - fast, clean, efficient, friendly. They explained what was happening and what they found (nothing major) and had a plaster person on-site to fix holes immediately.

Overall, I was thrilled with the work and would recommend them.

Ted/management and staff at Astron are absolutely highly recommended - they are clearly role models for others in the electrical industry - by far the highest quality on all levels and no doubt the reason why they have been well-established for over forty years with thousands of happy customers in our community over the years since I can remember. They are extremely professional, respectful of budget quotes, timelines, have a passion for customer service excellence/transparency, a solid foundation of expertise and education - I'm so pleased we still have quality of this calibre in the field who adhere to the highest standards and principles beyond expectations.

My house needed removal of some leftover knob and tube wiring. Astron provided Excellent service. Very honest and reliable. f you need knob and tube upgrades, this company is an excellent choice - they know older homes. The crew was very pleasant and hardworking. They offered great suggestions re: placement of light switches. The crew took great pride in their work. An excellent experience from start to finish

We purchased an older home in Toronto and it had K&T wiring. We were required (by insurance) to replace the wiring. We called in Astron to quote and Ted came and provided a fixed price quote. The price was good (but we did not check Homestars) so went ahead with them.

We were told it would take about 5-7 days to do the work. We had 20 days between taking possession of the house and having to move so we told the company they had to do the work in that time period. They said no problem.
The first week they came 4 days but on the 2nd week they came only 1 day. We called and were told they were busy on other projects, or that the "other guys" weren't available so they weren't able to do the work.

We had to move in on the weekend and they still weren't done, and needed to come back for the 3rd week (only showed up for 2 days that week). Still had to come back again (now the 4th week)

In addition, despite a fixed-fee quote, we got two price changes because of "unexpected" things which were never fully explained. We had Ted come in and he reassured us they knew about old houses and what to expect. Guess not. The first price change was for ~1000. The 2nd price increase was for ~900.
We were given a 3rd price change but didn't want them to finish by then.

They were also contracted to repair/patch the holes in the walls. They barely did 50% of the patching, and what they did do was so poor I had to re-do most of the work.

The new switches and plug boxes put in were almost all not square, with gaps with the original walls. And older junction boxes were left etc.. Overall, poor work.

In summary:
* > 4 weeks (with showing up 1 day a week sometimes) to finish something that would take 5 days.
* Fixed fee quote yet three different price increases because of "unexpected" difficulties.
* Poor, almost non-existent patching of work.
* Poor workmanship with wiring and leaving old boxes etc. in walls.

I would suggest you look elsewhere for an electrian

Had them remove knob and tube from older home and rewire back in 2001. Workers were pleasant, price was not out of sight. We are now having our first floor renovated and imagine our surprise to find that much of the knob and tube in the house still remains. My kitchen contractor is appalled.

Makes me wonder how much other knob and tube is hiding away behind the walls.

Two words: Electrical Ninjas. Paul and Anthony went above and beyond doing far more than what was originally quoted. They were fast, polite, clean, and did I mention that they were total ninjas.
We had some work done by another electrician but felt uneasy about bringing him back in to finish the work, so we decided to get some more quotes. Astron provided a very reasonable quote and identified several mistakes done by the previous electrician, so we thought we'd give them a shot. As I said above, they did far more than what we had originally asked of them and without extra charge.
Can't say enough about how well everything went.

I called to have two programmable thermostats for my electric baseboard heaters installed to replace outdated existing thermostats. I am not an electrician but by looking at the wiring diagram I knew an additional cable would have to be run from the thermostats to the heaters. I thought I would hire a professional since they would be able to do this job more efficiently than I could. My father offered to help by being at the house to let the electrician in to do the work. When I got home the thermostats were wired incorrectly and did not even work. My father paid Ted $300 cash as he had requested and it's been four days now and he hasn't returned any of my calls. This company is fly by night, I would avoid them at all costs. I should have gotten a detailed quote in writing before letting them perform the work.
