Alexanian Carpet & Flooring

Bought carpet from them and they installed it. The buying was OK, Caz the salesman was informative and knowledgable. The installation was less then satisfactory. Seams were showing, there were gaps under the baseboard. Called Caz, he sent the installer to look, he said nothing could be done and have not heard from Caz after the inspection. Not a great after sales experience.

Customer service above and beyond expectations

I read the reviews on this site and decided to visit Alexanian for my purchase as I noted that Allan Alexanian responded to the reviews which gave me confidence that if there were any concerns it would be addressed.

I had the best customer buying experience when I visited the Dufferin store and Akis who I realized later was the store manager assisted me. I was unsure of my needs and he provided the guidance and expertise required to assist me in making a decision. There was such a huge selection which can be confusing and Akis narrowed it down to a few items which worked well. He has the product knowledge, excellent vision and superb taste. I absolutely love the final choice.

There was a mis-communication regarding the installation and I was absolutely floored with the customer service resolution. Lenny, the Installation manager accepted responsibility for the issue which was not within his control and was very calm, professional and courteous even though I was really upset. I was quite impressed that Lenny resolved the issue to my satisfaction and it is also a wonderful reflection on the company for empowering its employees.

Kevin and Chris did a fantastic installation job. These two young men are also very professional, pleasant and excellent at their craft. As well, they cleaned up when the installation was completed.

The company also cleaned some areas rugs for me and they look so beautiful and like new. What a treat.

Last spring we purchased new carpet for our family room. After comparing products from 3 different stores we came back and purchased from Alexanian. The had the best price for the product we wanted. When they installed we were very pleased with the installers. They were very professional, they were polite and did the work in a small amount of time. I would definitely use them again when considering carpet in any other rooms of my house.

We were very impressed with the service and the installation. We bought carpet for our family room and were so pleased with the service and installation that we returned 4 years later and purchased carpet for our livingroom which we are very pleased with as well.

I scheduled an appointment 5 weeks in advance for the installation into a completely empty house. The salesperson told me the installation could be done in 1 day. The installation was to commence at 8:00am. After repeated phone calls, the installers showed up at 1:00pm. The salesperson had booked a 4 hour window to install 1200 sq ft of carpet with two installers. The installation was completed over a period of 3 days. The GM then blamed me for the problem. Completely unprofessional.

I am very happy with the quality service Alexanian's provided. They were very nice, fast and efficient for rug pick ups and drop offs. They made my micro fiber sofa and chair look line new again! I will use them again!

I have had rugs picked up and delivered on time and with courteous staff. I have also had carpet cleaned in home and have been very happy with the results. I would recommend this company.

When I called Alexanian to arrange to clean my broadloom, several pieces of furniture, and a small oriental rug, I stressed the fact that the products they use must be fragrance-free. If not, I could provide a fragrance-free carpet cleaning product that I had used before with a commercial cleaner. The person on the phone agreed, but when the worker came, his product was scented and he refused to use my product. I called the company to complain before he started the work, but they agreed with him. I agreed to let him clean the broadloom with only steam, which worked fairly well but did not get all the spots out, and he used a little of my cleaning product on the furniture. I changed my mind about giving him the small rug to wash in their factory, not trusting that it would be fragrance-free. I would never use Alexanian again for carpet cleaning.

They had a good selection, however I found them very slow to install, had many hiccups. Although they did solve all the problems in the end I felt they could have responded much faster. Staff friendly.

Pros: they let you take the rug home and try it out. If you don't like it, it doesn't fit/look good, you can return it for a full refund.

Cons: lousy customer service. I ordered an area rug on January 2, 2014. I agreed to wait for the next shipment, as mine was an unusual size. Ten weeks later, I phone, where's my rug? Apparently there is some screw up India, the country of origin, and it's going to be another 4 to 6 weeks. So I call today, looking for my rug and a discount for the hassle. What do you know? Yet ANOTHER 6 to 8 week delay. Again, blamed on India. I have my doubts about that story. I think I am being pawned off for being a pain. No way to prove it, it just leaves me with a distaste for Alexanian and their business practices.

Further to that, a couple of points to remember:

1. GET IT IN WRITING. If the salesman casually mentions he will throw in something like the underpad, get him to put it on the bill. I was promised this at sale, then offered it as consideration for the delay in delivery!
2. Do your research: Check the online price before you discuss anything with a salesman. Tell them to beat the online price, because those prices are questionable! I checked online, the "sale" price on January 2nd is the "sale" price today (May 20). If we don't have regulations about what can legitimately be called a sale price, we should! Sales don't last 6 months.
