All Windows and two doors

I had all my windows, basement door and back sliding door replaced. I was really pleased with everything from start to finish. Brian, my sales rep was helpful with informing us with which windows, colours and styles to go with. The install was a very quick, thorough and tidy process.

I highly recommend Brock to anyone who is looking for new windows or doors.

cash and carry windows

I dealt with Bruce Wilson of Brock Windows which was a pleasure. He came to our house and went over options regarding style, colors and ER ratings. He measured and quoted which came in on target. Windows came in on time and the staff was helpful with the loading of the cash and carry purchase. I installed them without a hitch especially with the pre-assembled jambs and brick mold. I love the windows and my energy savings. Thanks again Brock. Peter

13 Windows (Top Floor: Brick-to-Brick, Basement: Retrofit), 1 Front Door, and 2 Storm Doors

Before I selected Brock, I had contacted well over 10 window vendors --selected from Homestars, local flyers, and the Internet -- and had them each come and give me their dog and pony show to educate me on why they were unique and should be the vendor for me. I boiled down that list of 10 to more manageable and comparable list of 3 similar vendors that could give me a comparable apples-to-apples quote and also meeting my requirements – financing, quality windows, and competitive price.

In the end I selected Brock Windows due to a)the quality of the North Star windows, b) Walter the sales representative’s knowledge and recommendations, c) their competitive price and ability to provide 6-months no interest financing. In my opinion the windows that Brock sells (North Star) are excellent in quality windows –- both energy efficient with the highest CSA ratings for r-value and security -- and look great. However, in hindsight I was not scrutinizing enough with ‘installation’ as a selection requirement.

I experienced first-hand the issues and challenges of dealing with a 3rd party contractor that a window & door vendor uses to install their product. While the bulk of the issues I identified have since been taken care of at the time of this posting, I had a stressful time dealing with issues caused by mediocre installation and added complexity of dealing with multiple parties.

First issue: 2 of the 13 windows I ordered were ordered incorrectly – a mistake made by the installer during detailed measuring, although he originally did not admit to this.

Second issue: Scratches and loose flashing due to rushing installation -- the installer has since replaced the front-door flashing and screwed down loose areas

Third issue: Dent in door -- The door manufacturer replaced the door , given dent was from factory

Fourth issue: Missing rear garage door flashing – The installer forgot to install the flashing around the door due to rushing the job and running out of time in the day; it was only taken care of after I pointed it out the next visit.

In the end I waited an additional 1.5 months (took 4 months from order to complete install) and had to live with a drafty temporary window covering given my old window was removed (this was the fix after I had complained that the first temporary window covering was inadequate -- it let soot, a larger draft, and water into the wall.

In my opinion the mediocre installation was a result of squeezing a 3 day job into 2 days. This does not reflect on the skill of the installation crew as I believe they are capable and were initially pleasant to work with. Things turned awkward when the head-installer asked me to sign a ‘completion of work’ form stating that the I was satisfied with the job and that it was complete. As a result of me kindly refusing to sign the form given the job was NOT complete the installer attempted to pressure me into signing it citing he won’t get paid until the form is signed. After going back and forth, he finally gave up, but left upset. I believe this incident caused him to drag his heals in finishing the job.

Overall, I am thoroughly enjoying my North Star Windows and I do feel that the recommendations that Walter from Brock gave make the windows stand out, I highly recommend that anyone considering new windows scrutinize the installation practices of the vendor they end up choosing.

**Update: I have changed my initial rating from a 7 to a 9. I have to say that Brock Windows does an excellent job of follow-up on customer service -- from emailing a copy of my invoice promptly, to mailing me touch up paint for my windows, to repairing defects in the install over a year later. The original contractor came back and made things look better than the first go around. Thank you! **

Patio Door replacement

Our salesman Ken was extremely informative and not pushy at all. One of the best we have dealt with. The installers were both efficient and exceptionally tidy! Our overall Brock experience has been absolutely positive!

Window replacement

We got a few estimates to have our windows replaced. Brock was not the cheapest (or the highest), but we selected them because of the sales rep that explained our options, etc.

I would highly recomment Brock mainly due to their installers (besides the quality). Very high regard to workmanship detail and care to my home... also very clean.

8 windows replaced

We were looking to replace all windows in our home. We received quotes from 4 different companies and are happy that we decided on Brock in the end. Pat in Sales was very helpful and went out of his way to support us in our decision-making process. The North Star windows look and function great. Sokol and George (his helper) did a fantastic job on the installation. We're really enjoying our new windows. Thank you Pat, Sokol, George and Brock!

I called Brock based on the reviews on homestars. Sandy the salesman came for an estimate and as with any other salesperson, he was able to convince us why we should go with Brock.
Sandy said I will get a call from Brock for the measurements in a week or two.Since no one called, I had to call 2-3 times to get someone to come over to get the measurements.Scott the installer came over, took measurements and also we discussed of changing the sidings on the windows and the doors. He said he will let Brock know and will take care of it when he comes to install it.
Installation was discussed with Sandy who said it will be 6-8 weeks from the contract date. 10 weeks passed and no call from Brock.I called probably on the 11th week and had to leave msg with the service dept but never got a call. After leaving few msgs, finally, a lady called and wanted to schedule a time for installation.
The installer Eric came with his helper on time and completed the work on the same day. I must say these two guys did a phenomenal job and I offered them free lunch and drinks for their hard work.
Then, the storm door that I ordered with the salesman Sandy had the hinges on the wrong side. It`s a samll matter so I thought I`ll get used to it. Then, I was told that there was no sidings ordered. I trusted their installer Scott who said he will take care of it but it was never done. I called Brock who said Scott no longer works for them and was told to speak about the siding to Sandy. I called Sandy, left msg on nemerous occasions and he did not call even once.
I called Brock again and was told to email him and no response from him via email as well. Then, I called Brock again and the woman at service said she will let her service person who does sidings call me directly and I can deal with him directly but again no word from anyone. So,what do you think my opinion on this company is??
Salesperson Sandy 2/10, Customer Serice at Brock 5/10,price 8/10, Installer Eric and his helper 10/10,Windows from North Star 10/10.

So,Executives at Brock, you may not be aware of what is happening to your clients but based on my genuine feedback, I hope you know where you need to focus on to make sure you maintain your goodwill before a competitor takes advantage of you weakness.

Windows

Was very pleased with Brian, the sales rep, who provided excellent advice in terms of window style and colour - we went with their new sable colour. The installation team, led by Amery, were very professional and answered any questions I had including paint and caulking colour for the trim and potential rot from our old leaking windows (we had none). They arrived early and worked hard both days. They left the house both inside and out as clean as possible given the mess associated with a brick-to-brick window install. I love the oversized trim (which is standard at Brock; I love the look of the windows from the inside of the house and I am superbly happy with the colour and look of the windows from the outside of the house. When we can afford to replace our doors, I won't be shopping around - I'll be going straight to Brock.

2 patio doors and bedroom window

We needed to replace 2 patio doors and a bedroom window that were about 20 years old. We went with Brock after a recommendation by the condo board and reading the reviews from Homestars. Mark the sales rep was friendly and knowledgable and maybe a little too confident. My only quibble was it took 10 weeks from the day we sent out the order form to the day they called to make the appointment for the installation (and because my husband made a call requesting the status after 8 weeks). The installer Alvaro and his team were prompt, courteous, efficient and respectful not to make too much of a mess. When I noticed that one of the patio doors did not have a security bolt as ordered, I called Brock's customer service and in 3 weeks someone from the manufacturer came to install the sercurity bolt.
