Rodrigo came highly recommended to us through our neighbourhood facebook group. We were expecting our first child and wanting to finish our basement so that it would be livable and could be used as a guest bedroom for our parents when they wished to stay over post grandchild birth. We needed the ceiling done, there was none previous as the ducts, cables, and wires were exposed. As well as the flooring needing to be re-installed - it had been torn up 5 months earlier when our pipes had to be replaced. Rodrigo was even able to take on a couple of last minute things my wife had forgotten to ask about when originally getting the estimate, ie. relocating the basement's light switch and adding a dimmer to it as well as placing an air vent for us. Rodrigo and Lindsey made us a priority when they heard of our tight time frame and that we were trying to do the work before the baby was born. It was a great relief when they started work for us and really stress-free as they limited the amount of things that we needed to worry about. Rodrigo and Mike arrived bright and early and finished on time, I think they might have even finished a day or so earlier than they estimated even. What's more, our baby came a week and a bit early during our renovation. We didn't have to worry about the reno though, as Rodrigo and Mike finished the work, cleaned and locked up for us while we were away at the hospital the last 2 days of the job. They simply sent us an email letting us know that they'd finished up and had locked up the house for us as well as wishing us a heartfelt congratulations. The basement turned out great! As they were completing the work my wife and I already began planning the future renos we'd like Costard Renovation to do for us. The work is great, cost fair, and the people are skilled, knowledgeable and great to deal with.

A week before Christmas sewage backed up in our basement laundry room. We got in touch with Steve and he came out first thing Saturday to diagnose the cause of our problem. He used a fibre optic camera to show me that tree roots were all up in our old clay pipes and effectively blocking waste from exiting our house's sanitary line. Not a huge surprise for us as we live in a neighbourhood in Old Toronto that's over a 100 and all of our neighbours have had similar issues. However, we were 6 days from hosting our family's Christmas dinner, and worried how 15 people using the washroom would contribute to our sewage back-up problem. Steve said it wouldn't be an issue as his crew would have it fixed by Christmas Eve. The Waterman crew started promptly Sunday morning, and finished on the Wednesday. They changed out all of our old clay pipes, installed a sump pipe, backwater valve, severed and capped off our weeping tile connection, and put a new drain in for us in our furnace room next to our water heater. All the while, Steve was quick to respond to me and answer any questions I had, explaining everything multiple times so that I could understand. They quickly arranged all the permits and prepared the rebate forms for us. Jakob and Myron, our plumbing crew were extremely punctual - on the first day they arrived 20 mins ahead of time and waited in their van until the appointment time - and very polite. I am absolutely flabbergasted by the amount of work his crew undertook and accomplished while completing it under his original time and cost estimate. Thank you for saving our Christmas from smelly sewage!
