After reading the 1800GOTJUNK website, my understanding was this company did their very best to recycle or donate items they got to charities etc. instead of going to landfills. The crew were nice however did nothing to save any items they loaded. Broke "EVERYTHING" with no regard to salvaging anything!!! This was what was left of my parents worldly possessions...I did my best to donate to their church and organizations such as Value Village however didn't live in the area and was very limited on time to do anything else such as garage sale or try to sell items on kijiji...thought this organization was my best option otherwise....BOY WAS I WRONG!!! If you have JUNK then absolutely the perfect option for disposal. My concern is their representation of an "Ideal" service for recycling or salvaging via their website...is very misleading and I feel robbed!! As for what they did I could have saved a ton of money by ordering a bin that they leave in your driveway and had friends help me dispose of the household goods in the same manner but cost only $200.00! A customer service representative did call to follow up my complaint however I felt no satisfaction after the call...no compensation was offered and to be perfectly honest the explanation was..."there are perimeters that the crew utilize to determine how "pristeen" and item is in order to salvage it....well, as far as I was concerned the furnishings and crystal dishware etc were as pristeen as you could get. NUFF SAID!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!

- Company Response
Vickie,
It is with regret that I respond to your testimonial, as it is obvious your experience with us was not a good one. It's particularly upsetting that your experience was made unpleasant by the absence of what has become a core component of our service: the recycling and donating of gently-used items.
Extending the life course of "junk" is a win-win for everyone involved. It makes our customers feel good that they have made the responsible choice in choosing 1-800-GOT-JUNK? to give their items the best opportunity to find a new home. It also makes good business sense, as landfills and/or transfer stations are crowded and expensive. Given this, we have spent years forging relationships with great secondary-market organizations and charities including GoodWill and The Yard Sale for the Cure. On May 26th of this year, we will be holding the city’s largest Yard Sale, in which we will sell off close to 60 tonnes of lightly used items with the hope of raising $30,000 for breast cancer research.
Of course, none of this matters when we did not do right by you, with your stuff at your jobsite. I have spoken at length to the team that carried out your removal and would like the opportunity to close the loop with you based on the feedback provided by all parties involved.
