I would not recommend Shawn or have him do any further work, around my house because he does not honor his warranty. Some erosion occurred in a section of the walkway. He said he would repair it after inspecting. Many months later, he changed his mind and accused us of causing the damage due to putting salt on the walkway. We only used NON CORROSIVE (Calcium Chloride) Snow Melter on the sidewalk.

Hi Jerry, the type of damage on your walkway is a typical salt damage and unfortunately this type of damage is not covered under warranty. When you called requesting a warranty repair, we met you at your home and investigated the issue. The facts considered in our decision making are as follows:
- We used 32-C2 concrete for your walkway which is the optimal concrete to use for slab on grade City sidewalks.
- The concrete was placed on a nice sunny day in May 2018. There was no rain in the forecast 24 hours before and after the pour. There were no concrete finishing issues during the time of concrete placement.
- Excluding the area of damage, there was no other damage visible during our assessment of your walkway in June 2020. The entire walkway was still in perfect shape. The damage was localized to only the one area, indicating a large and aggregated amount of salt was placed there. You also showed us one other similar damage on an existing pre-cast driveway curb, indicating the salt might have damaged that curb as well.
- Physically, the depth and the appearance of the damage are consistent with salt damage.
- A lot of calcium snow chloride snow melters on the market still contain 95% sodium chloride (regular salt), as shown on the ingredients list. You must ensure to use pure calcium chloride pellets. We were not contacted to provide advice on which snow melters to use.
Based on the information above, this damage is not warrantable. To fix this damage, we are able to resurface this concrete. If this is of interest, we will be happy to do this at a minor cost, as you are one of our existing clients. We hope this information helps. If you would like to discuss further, you can call or email us directly and we will be happy to serve you.
