Replace a range burner switch.

PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DEALING WITH APPLIANCE REPAIR GUYS. I called them to send a service technician to our home to look at a burner switch on my range which was clicking, and that I believed needed replacing. I was told it would cost $85.00 for the visit. OK. When the UNAUTHORIZED service technician came to see the range he told my wife he could get her a quote for the switch and the 5 minutes it would take to install. OK. But, THIS IS WHERE IT GOES VERY WRONG. The UNAUTHORIZED service technician then told my wife that he should check the "Main Board" to make sure there wasn't a larger issue. OK? He quoted my wife $280.00 for this service. OK?? My wife, like myself knowing very little about the operation of this appliance agreed. I was told after the fact by the Manufacture of the range that the UNAUTHORIZED service repair technician would have had no reason to check the "Main Board" because the range was functioning perfectly. I HAD A STRONG SUSPICION WE HAD BEEN TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. Unfortunately, the Appliance Repair Guys weren't done quite yet. They then quoted me an additional $280.00 plus taxes for a part that cost $80.00 and only takes 5 minutes to install. NOT OK. I called Appliance Repair Guys head office regarding the excessive labor charge for the initial visit, but their customer service department and the ownership did not want to resolve the issues I had with a $280.00, 15 minute visit. In the end I had an authorized service person replace an $80.00 clicking switch and the manufacture of the range covered the cost of the 5 minutes it took to install. When I told the authorized service person about the service I had received from the Appliance Repair Guys he was shocked because again The "Main Board" would of had nothing to do with the clicking switch. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DEALING WITH APPLIANCE REPAIR GUYS.

Oven repair

On April 14, 2014 a technician from 'The Appliance Guys' came to my son's home to repair his Frigidaire oven. After more than 2 hours of diddling, he unnecessarily damaged the control panel by causing an electrical 'double arc', (confirmed by 3 certified Frigidaire technicians, one on site). In layman's terms he 'fried' the control panel purposely, but said it was diagnostic of the problem; now both oven AND stove were not working.
Customer service (I use that term loosely) informed me a few hours later that the control panel would cost $800.00 + to replace.
After some investigation, 3 Frigidaire technicians from other companies including Frigidaire head office confirmed that the control panel was damaged unnecessarily. They also confirmed that they had heard of The Appliance Guys doing this many times before to people as a way to create work and make money. The Hamilton Spectator wrote an article about them in January 2014 with similar stories to mine. Better Business Bureau and Yelp complaints are almost identical to my experience.
To make things worse, Frigidaire said that the retail price of the control panel is $175.00, NOT $800.00! Also, I had to pay them $316.40 for that visit instead of $80.00 which they quoted on the phone.
The Appliance Guys are, first and foremost, dishonest and should be stopped!

Broken dishwasher and washing machine

I called appliance guys to come fix a broken dishwasher and washing machine. The guy came and told me the dishwasher even though it was just a latch that was broken it was the whole piece that needed to be replaced because it was a unibody. I paid 80 for him to just come in and then he had to order the part for which he took down the serial number down and called the office to order the part which I had to pay $300 at that time and another 300 when the part came. He told me I might as we'll wait for the part to come, which shouldn't be more than 3 days, he could put that in and service my washing machine at the same time. 1 week goes by I didn't hear from them, meanwhile I am 7 months pregnant with no dishwasher or washing machine, so I called and asked them to come service the washer. At that point was informed the dishwasher piece was on back order and would be another week. It was 330 just for him to service the washing machine, he said he fixed it but I had to be very gentle and not put any load to large and keep the spin cycle on medium or low. When he left I put a very small load in on low spin cycle within 10 minutes it started smoking and I had to turn it off. I called they said they couldn't do anything and I had to buy a new machine no thanks to them. A few days later I get a call asking for my serial number for the piece they said they already ordered but clearly did not ( I already paid for half of it). It's not been over a month still no part and no dishwasher I am never using these people again they are a Serious RIP OFF and don't take responsibility for their own mistakes!!!!

Oven Repair

Hired this company to repair gas stove. You have to sign agreement for $280. before work is started. They replaced igniter but said problem with gas supply or main board. Stove didn't work and company doesn't listen to complaints. Hired another company at cost of $100. checked the gas nothing wrong but the igniter installed by Appliance Repair guys was installed wrong. Took him 10 minutes to properly install now stove works perfectly. Do not call this company

Fridge Leaking

DO NOT USE.
If I could give negative stars I would.
I hate that these guys even got in my home.
10 year old whirlpool fridge wasn't keeping the food cool and was leaking water. My wife called these guys [obviously didn't do any online research first] and they came by. $315 later, the tech had dissembled the freezer tray and cleared a line at the back, saying that was the issue.
2 weeks later, problem is back. Tech comes out, explains there is nothing to be done about it, we'll just have to manually clear out the line ourselves again when it happens.
So they hadn't actually fixed anything that first visit, they had just removed the ice buildup. Treated the symptoms, not the cause… $50 charge for this invaluable information. I feel like I've been robbed.

Washer

Worst service ever! My washer had a leakage. Thetecnician came and diagnosed the problem. He charged 316 dollars for a 20 min service and left the washer in a non working condition. When I called them again they said the parts have to be replaced for $1200. The washer is just 5 years old. I instead went and bought a new washer for $600. The staff on the phone were very rude as well. Never recommend them.
