Repair Refrigerator

My story is very similar to the ones posted. My fridge stopped cooling on Monday afternoon. When I noticed the rise in temperature, I rang them out of desperation. I normally research companies, but was occupied by other commitments. They said that a service man would be here the following day. Michael arrived on time and began working on the fridge. He said the labour had to paid upfront and would be $280 plus HST and no other labour cost would be charged. He also said that the call out fee would be waived. I agreed. As he began moving the fridge out, I told him to place felt protectors under the footings so that our new wood floor would not be scratched. He said it wasn't necessary. So, I believed him. He spent some time at the back of the fridge and said it was the inverter board that was no longer working and had to order it. As he packed up and pushed the fridge back in, I noticed he had scratched the new wooden floor terribly. He did not apologise but did acknowledge it. I paid as I said I would and didn't want any problems as I was at home alone. He called the next day with the cost of a new inverter board which was $841 and would take up to two weeks to arrive. He said no labour cost would be charged, but he did mention an installation fee accidentally. I challenged him about no other labour costs, but he had no answer. Before proceeding with it, I made a few calls about the cost of the inverter board and discovered that it was about half the price quoted by this company. I decided not to proceed with it. Also, I complained about the damage to the new wood floor and asked how the company would address this. When I finally got through to the Manager, she denied it and hung up on me. In a nutshell, this company has questionable service ethics and I absolutely do not recommend them.

Washer Repair

It cost me $316 to find out within 10 minutes that my 11 year old machine would cost $1594 plus tax to repair. It was not explained to me properly that I would pay this without repair. When I called they were rude and would not lessen the charge. I would never ever use this company.

Horrible customer service

A technician came to look at my washing machine - there was a burning rubber smell and I suspected that there was a problem with the tub. The technician spent 10 min diagnosing the problem with my washing machine and told me a part had to be ordered before it could be fixed. He informed me that the cost of the labour would be $280 + HST and couldn't tell me the cost of the part until it had been ordered. I agree to pay this amount and signed for it. However, about 20 min later when my husband arrived home we talked about it and decided that it was too much and wanted to cancel the work order. We immediately called the company to cancel and was informed that the $80 we paid was just for the technician to come to the door and that the time he spent diagnosing the problem would cost $280, even though nothing was fixed. I've since followed up with an e-mail demanding the $280 back but they are refusing to give it to me saying that his diagnosis is the labour, which is outrageous! This company knows nothing about customer service and should be investigated by the authorities!

Dishwasher repair

I was told my dishwasher was not working because it was dirty. The technician was 100% sure this was the issue and it was $330 to fix. After 30minutes when the dishwasher had been cleaned, the technician was surprised to find the dishwasher still didn't work. After calling Bosch directly, he concluded it was the pump. I decided it was better just to buy a new dishwasher and was ready to pay for the service call but told i had to pay the $330 because the "labor was done" even though the diagnosis was wrong and the dishwasher was still broken. I feel totally taken advantage of and will never use to recommend this company to anyone.

Range Hood Fan

Very very upset with this company and myself for not reading the reviews. Seems this company has a consistent way of treating clients.

The company quoted us $80 to come out to assess our appliance. The technician came to our place and looked at the appliance and told us he needed to order a new motor. He quoted us a labor cost of $200 to install the piece. We were asked to pay the labor in full prior to them ordering the part and were told the part cost would be in addition. I paid $280+Tax in full and expected to pay the additional cost of the part. A week later I was told that they were unable to find the part. When I asked if I would be reimbursed for the labor I was told the $200 additional fee I paid was for the labor of the service/diagnostic call. I am so disappointed that a company would take advantage like that. Word of advice if you are forced to use this company.....DO NOT PAY ANYTHING UNLESS THE WORK IS COMPLETED.

STAY AWAY!!!

Stay away!
I do not recommend Appliance Repair Guys!!!
Should have read the reviews before calling them Looks like everyone has the same story of felling like they have been ripped off! Same story, the charge we $80.00 for an inspection on my fridge. Presented with a piece of paper to sign that stated the charge was $280 for the labour. Anything else would be extra. After taking about 25 minutes, I was told I needed a part and he would get back to me with P&D. Calls back and the part is no longer available. So I’m out $316.40 for someone to take no more than an hour to tell me I need a new fridge.

Dishwasher Repair--Rip Off Artists--Why havent they been Shut Down?

Do not use 'APPLIANCE REPAIR GUYS' ever.

On November 10 2015 a repair technician from "Appliance Repair Guys" came out to tell our 86 year old trusting mother that her washing machine was still in good shape could be repaired and that the repair would also come with a warranty. The technician indicated he serviced the timer and motor on his initial visit but subsequently informed her he now had to return for a belt replacement!. THEN......it took over 3 weeks for him to return (The total charge now grew considerably after work had already been started......$584.21 !!)

On December 23rd 2015 the same service technician returned to install the belt and shortly after left hastily without showing the receipt he left on the table for the work completed (didn't even say goodbye to mom).
When her caregiver showed our mom the receipt there was a note saying that 'The motor is becoming weak' and that she would have to pay $254.86 to have it replaced. When her caregiver went downstairs to do a load the washing machine was not functioning at all. When we called the company and said we needed them to come back to fix it they said it would cost another $254.86 for a new motor and this was a special price as a 'favor' to our mother. When we said this was unfair..... the lady on the phone became very hostile and rude and said SHE HAD NO INTENTIONS OF DOING ANYTHING UNLESS YOUR MOTHER PAID THE EXTRA MONEY. She then hung up. They did not respond to our letters or to the Better Business Bureau

Fix Dryer

I would not recommend Appliance Repair Guys. Unfortunately, I checked the Better Business Bureau after I felt I had been ripped off. I found that there had been many complaints about them, and they were not recommended by the BBB.
After making an appointment, the charge was $80.00 to come for an inspection on my dryer. I was then presented with a piece of paper to sign which stated the charge was $280.00 for the service. If any parts were needed, that is extra.
After finding nothing wrong with the dyer, my vacuum was borrowed to clean the machine. The bill plus tax was $316.00 for nothing that was needed. If I didn't sign the paper, my$80.00 was due.

LG fridge repair

Let's start by saying that I wish I had done some research before I called this company. I was told that there would be an $80.00 service charge that would be waived once I agreed to go ahead with the repair. Once tech arrived he said it would be $280.00 for him to inspect and that I had to sign the Labour Quote Approval before he could begin. Well, I was desparate to have my fridge fixed, so I signed the document. After trying a few things he said that the main board would need to be replaced and that he had to go back to the shop to have their parts deparment look into getting me a price. This was on a Monday. I then did some research online and read the negative reviews. I decided to call another company. They came and determined that it was not the main board that needed replacing, but that the left side door switch cover was broken, which he fixed on the spot.....cost $171.00. I finally heard back from the first guy on Friday, 5 days later (not sure why it takes 5 days to get a price), and was told that the part would cost $594.00 + tax!!! Needless to say, I told him that it was already repaired. I did file a complaint with Appliance Repair Guys, which proved useless......just got the run around from them. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY....EVER!!!

MISLEADING, DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES

I called to repair a retractable downdraft vent for a KitchenAid induction cook-top. The first technician arrived and told me that he could not repair it and that it would require two technicians, because the unit needed to be removed in order to fix it. The first service call fee of $80 was waived, but I was then required prepay $380 + tax ($429.40) for the follow-up visit based on his assessment.

When the two technicians visited the next day, it took exactly 20 minutes of diagnostics for the lead technician to conclude that the electronic control board was shorted and needed to be replaced. the other technician stood around checking his phone. I was then quoted $843.56 + tax for the replacement part. He wanted me to prepay half that amount on the spot. I deferred, asking him to have someone call me with details about how long this would take to complete. I then called KitchenAid directly and found out that this replacement part is available for $402. I called The Appliance Repair Guys and cancelled any followup service call and asked for a refund of $380 (+ tax) but said that I was willing to accept paying the initial $80 service fee. So a refund of $300 + tax was acceptable. I based this on an expectation that the first technician should have been able to diagnose such a simple problem on the first visit. Had he done so, I would have paid the $80 and deferred any additional repair costs in favour of a new unit which will cost $1450, almost exactly the amount of the repair and replacement part ($1400)

The company refused to issue a credit, suggesting that I was fully aware of the conditions.
