Robin did a very clean and quick installation of changing my wood burning fireplace into a gas insert.
It has been running fine for the past 5 years but every fall I forget how to restart it and he always helps me promptly.

I am extremely impressed by the professionalism of Robin and Mathew (Fireplace West). After contacting many companies, Robin was the only one who came to my house and explained to me the best course of action. He was very understanding and respectful of my needs. We turned to Robin at Fireplacewest.ca when our original gas fireplace was "red tagged". He was the fourth contractor and the first to come up with a plan to fix or replace it. He installed a Napoleon GD36 gas fireplace, new venting (the original problem) and repaired the drywall to paint stage. Robin, Matt and Dan finished in two days, perfectly and within estimate. We would recommend them to anyone.

I would definitely recommend Robin and Matt! This review is a long time coming (installation last summer!). We were renovating out basement and thinking about putting in a gas fireplace. I am a bit of a do it yourself person, so I don't often hire people for work around the house, but I know a natural gas fireplace installation is more than I can do. After getting a couple of quotes around town my wife and I had decided not to get a fireplace at all, but we'd already booked Robin to come out and give us a quote. He found the right fireplace (smaller than the others we had been offered) for us and did a good job convincing us that it was the right choice,even though we were hesitant at the time.
We are glad that he did, it was an excellent addition to our basement! I just hired them for the rough in of the fireplace, (I wanted to do all the finishing work myself), he and Matt were in and out in a day, so I was really impressed with that, and very happy with the service and guidance along that way, Thanks Robin!

Quick answer: Robin is a craftsman and takes a craftsman's pride in his work. It shows, and I am very, very pleased with the results.

Details: Typical early 90's townhouse with wood fireplace on exterior wall and leaking cold air terribly. Visited a major local company who did a basic estimate (same price as Fireplace West for basic installation). They didn't follow up, even with me phoning. I found Fireplace West on this site. Robin emailed back the same day, came out a few days later, and, due to a customer illness, was able to start the job almost immediately.

I wanted not just the old wood fireplace replaced with gas, but to get rid of the horrid stucco above and replace the mantle.

I was extremely impressed with the quick, knowledgeable service and even more, the quality. The big company was going to have different people do the gas installation (ripping up my basement drywall, extra charge to repair it, of course), someone else to do the fireplace exchange, and I'd have to find someone else to do any finishing work -- again at extra cost.

Having one person (and his assistants) do everything meant when I had a question Robin could answer it, and he would be responsible for all of the work. As work from home I was also very pleased at how quietly he worked (i.e. no music blasting).

All my concerns were addressed with respect and detail. The finishing work (new drywall with taping and sanding) was of such quality that the wall feels as smooth as glass. A couple of other tiny jobs (doorknob through wall at back door while moving in) were also fixed without me having to ask.

Example: I was concerned that the lines of the tile surround might not be centered, which would drive me crazy. When I asked Robin he totally agreed. Having a perfectionist work in your home makes all the difference.

Robin and his crew were polite, professional,efficient, personable and honest. Robin checked in with me every step of the way to ensure that the results were to my liking.

He agreed to remove our old brick hearth for a very reasonable price and installed a high quality gas fireplace. The cleanup was impeccable. I was out of the house at times and had no qualms about leaving the men to their work.

Our family room was in need of a gas fireplace and a place for our new TV.
From the start, Robin was there to start our design with the proper fireplace, a Regency P33CE, logs. He was patient, courteous and very throrough.
From scratch, they created a beautiful fireplace with stone mantel and a built in TV. It is the central focus point of of the room. It is all we hoped for and more.

We had an excellent experience with Fireplace West last Christmas (2014).
We wanted to change two old gas stoves that were heating our rec and family rooms. While comparing products, we decided to change the family room stove to a fireplace, incorporate it into a large existing curved brick wall and drywall everything.
We chose Fireplace West because we liked Robin when he came to scope the job, he was knowledgeable about manufacturers and models and was price competitive.
We were pleased with everything--- installation, product, courteous manner and cleanup. His brother Dana has amazing drywall skills.
We had a malfunctioning thermal switch which was changed promptly and cheerfully.

Robin helped us select an insert for our 1970's fireplace and then installed it. His advice was direct and helpful. The work was efficiently and cleanly done and he provided a follow-up visit for demonstration and then was available by phone to answer our questions. He clearly takes a lot of pride in his work and his customer service. We are very pleased with our new fireplace.
