Stratas Design Build

We were referred to Andy and Stratas Design Build via a friend as he had just renovated their kitchen and main floor and did an excellent job. We contacted Andy and found out that he had grown up right around the corner from us and knew our in-laws' nephew! Right off the bat, we could tell that Andy and his team were committed to ensuring that we were satisfied. Andy's communication skills are excellent and he makes sure that all aspects / details of the job are covered prior to moving forward. This was reassuring given this was a big project for us and we do not have a lot of renovation / design experience. While there were a couple of hiccups (cabinets not arriving on-time, hardwood floor in the family room needing to be replaced), Andy was sure to communicate these issues to us as they arose and provided realistic solutions that met our needs. We lived through the renovation with our two small children and Andy and team ensured that we were comfortable. Andy also offered design tips and advice, which we were thankful for, it helped the process move smoothly. The team were all very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. We are very pleased with the end result, as are those who we've entertained since the renovation was completed. We would definitely use Stratas Design Build for future projects and would recommend them to friends.

Last summer (2014) after interviewing and receiving quotes from a number of contractors, we offered our basement renovation project to Stratas Design Build. Andy was the only contractor that seemed to fully understand the scope of the project and what we were looking to accomplish with the renovation.

Our basement reno was the largest project that we had decided to tackle after eight years in our home. It had been finished poorly some time ago and required a full gut of the main area including the removal of an old set of stairs and a non-supporting wall. Andy alleviated any of our pre-reno concerns by clearly communicating the process for the project. Once the project had begun, Andy provided us with daily updates on the progress and the next steps. The team worked diligently and tried their best to minimally impact our daily lives while maintaining a good level of cleanliness in the work space.

The project turned up only a few ‘surprises’ that needed to be addressed, (a minor plumbing issue, removal of small amount of K&T and rewiring of the dryer). The additional costs were presented to us in advance of the work being completed, with a full explanation as to why they needed to be done. Regardless of the add-ons, the project was completed on time and generally within the budget. With Andy's level of detail, we were confident that the project was being completed safely and to code. In addition, Andy and his team came up with creative and cost-effective solutions to address issues such as the uneven floor (we didn’t dig out the basement prior to starting the work as the extra headroom was not needed).

Andy has carefully selected his team to be in line with his own level of professionalism and work ethic. Everyone who entered our home - from the framers to the electricians to the painters - was punctual, courteous, dedicated and respectful of our home.

Since the renovation has been completed, Andy has checked in a few times to ensure we are happy with the results and has helped out on a few other projects. We are delighted to now have an additional floor of living space thanks to Andy and his team’s excellent renovation.

We look forward to dreaming up new projects for our home with Andy at the helm.

We got Andy's number through a friend's recommendation, to do a large renovation to the basement of our bungalow (moving load-bearing walls and adding new support, pouring new concrete, plumbing, electrical, drywall, finishes, etc) and couldn't be happier overall with the service we got.

Andy really went the extra mile on numerous occasions to make sure we were happy with his team's work. Our project had a few hiccups along the way, including a massive water leak in our foundation, so it took longer than we had anticipated to complete - but Andy stuck with us and made sure the job was done properly, including doing patchwork and waterproofing on our foundation in the middle of January.

Andy managed numerous trades for us, but every time we dealt with a member of his team (especially Michel and Billy), they were always great - happy to answer any of our questions. Andy is always flexible with his time and willing to answer any questions as well. We would recommend his services in a heartbeat and will definitely be calling him again in the future.

I met Andy through friends who had a much larger job then mine done and highly recommended him. Andy was very professional and has a very relaxing approach. There was no point during the project negotiations or renovation that we doubted that Andy was on top of things. He would constantly give us updates on how the project (budget and schedule) was going. Andy let us know of all the surprises that could pop up and seemed to have a plan for all of them. Luckily there was no surprises and everything seemed effortless.

I have referred Andy to others and strongly suggest that if you are having work done that you call him because the good contractors are hard to find.

We had a new kitchen with quartz counter top, 22 pot lights, maple floors and two wall removed with beams put in.

We have used Andy and his team at Stratas Design several times now for large and small projects. This was a medium sized foundation restoration project that had to be done within a relatively short window. Andy was able to provide us with a competitive quote and assemble his team quickly once he was awarded the contract. The workmanship and professionalism of his workers is at the highest level and the project was completed on time and within budget. Andy is very easy to work with and I recommend him highly.

We used Stratas Design Build to help us with our first ever renovation on our 108 yr old home. I hired Andy from Stratas Design to help re-do our kitchen and master en suite. I really valued his design input, he truly is very experienced with a great eye for detail.
