TV & Dryer

Bought an LG TV and right after warranty expired it broke (of course!) And now I just bought a dryer from the sears outlet, brought home and plugged it in.... and IT'S NOT WORKING! We went back to the outlet and they say they can't do anything about it coz it's final sale!!! Are you serious! It doesn't even power on and now they refuse to replace it. They asked us to call the manufacturer and now waiting for them to call us for an appointment. I learned my lesson.. NEVER EVER BUY AGAIN FROM SEARS!

Stacked washer and dryer purchase/installation

Delivery and Installation did not go well with delivery team, delay also involved.
Sears, Belleville responsible for delivery worked their buns off to correct various situations. They made a huge difference. Customer service was their priority they never passed the buck. Thank you, you are the reason why we will continue shopping with Sears.
Yes we could simply complain with what went wrong but we must also give credit when it is deserved. Thanks Jannine,Shima and Barbara. Belleville.

Dishwasher

Ranting is not something I normally do, but after the week I have had, here goes.
1 year and one week ago I purchased a dishwasher from sears in North Bay, it need service twice due to an error code that kept flashing and when it did the machine would not work. The 3rd time it did it I phoned sears for repair- Oops warranty of up (of course) and I did not buy the extended warranty. But that was ok according to them as it would only cost me $200.00 to have
Someone come out and LOOK at IT. NOT REPAIR IT, but LOOK AT IT.
After 20 minutes of telling them how ridiculous it sounded, she offered to let me purchase the $200.00 extended warranty. I sais fine, I will buy the warranty, Believe it or not she told me that that would be fine I would just have to have someone come out and verify that the machine was in good working order and then she could bill it to my credit card. I being absolutely flabbergasted said, I just told you that the machine was not working!
So I told her never mind I would rip this one out and go and get another one.
Well to show you how stupid I can be, I went back to sears again, stupid (yes I know) and the fact that in North Bay I do not know many places to buy appliances.
So go to sears, buy one on sale, bring it home husband hooks it up, works fine for two days and then the door keeps popping open during the rinse cycle.
(Yes I bought the extended warranty this time :) so I am good..... NOPE
I Call sears, they won’t send anyone and tell me it is still covered by manufacture warranty so I have to call Kenmore, I call Kenmore, even though I have the receipt and the (much needed ) extended warranty they have no record of me buying the machine. So No they can’t send anyone out. I have called the store, Kenmore , Sears repair , Bosh themselves and I was even put through to a woman who, even though I was calling at 9pm Friday night, tells me that where I am calling (but she won’t tell me where she is ) it is SATURDAY MORNING THERE and someone will get back to me on Monday. And get this, I call the fancy sears number 1800 4myhome, and after not getting anywhere I call the Kenmore number that I was told to call and I get The same DAM woman I was talking to!
The next step is tomorrow, husband will pull out the machine, load into the truck, and we will be struggling to carry that dam thing through the front doors, where it will be placed on the sales desk. I will get a refund and wash dishes by hand until I find a product that is made properly and someone will back the way they are supposed to. Moral of this story DO NOT BUY APPLIANCES FROM SEARS!

Washer/Dryer repair

Spent $500 on an extended warranty last year for an extra 3 years. Today, the repair guy cam and told me the company is out of parts and will call me back to let me know when they can fix. I got the run around the entire afternoon and also found out that when I paid my warranty extension last year they overcharged me by $500. Now they want to refund me but can only do it on an old expired Visa card even though I gave them my new card or asked for a check. They put me through huge inconvenience to get my money back from my visa company even though they messed up. NEVER EVER buy any product or extended warranty from Sears. They are the worst company on Earth for a reason.

Portable Dishwasher

BUYERS BEWARE! Terrible Customer Service at Sears Canada

My husband and I recently purchased a portable dishwasher as a gift. It was very important to us that the dishwasher be able to be returned. The sears.ca website states that major appliances may be returned within 30 days so we decided to purchase the dishwasher from Sears. When we phoned to place the order the agent on the phone assured us that the person receiving the gift would have 30 days to return it.

The dishwasher was delivered to its recipient on August 28. The delivery person unpacked the dishwasher and put it in the kitchen. At that time the person being given the dishwasher stated that she thought it may be too big for the kitchen. The delivery person advised her that if she decided not to keep it she had 30 days to return it. He then took the packaging and left. She did not use the dishwasher and after a few days decided it was unsuitable. She then contacted me wondering how she might go about returning it since it did not come with a receipt or any return instructions.

I phoned customer service and spoke to an agent. She informed me that the dishwasher needed to be returned within 24 hours for a full refund or exchange. I informed her that we had been told it was 30 days, and I did not see anything about the 24 hour policy she was speaking of on the sears.ca website. She then asked if it was still in the box. I told her of course it wasn’t as the delivery man had unpacked it and took the packaging. She then claimed that the dishwasher could not be returned because it was not in its original packaging. Sears.ca clearly states that as part of their core delivery service they are to deliver and unpack the item, put it in place, and dispose of the packaging. We were given no indication that purchase of this delivery service for 69.95 could possibly result in the return policy becoming void.

Since we were very unsatisfied with the customer service we had received my husband phoned customer service again the next day. This time the agent informed him that they do not accept returns on major appliances. My husband said that was completely unacceptable and requested a manager. The managr then proceeded to inform him that the dishwasher could not be returned or exchanged after 72 hours and because it was not in the original packaging there was nothing she could do.

We feel as though the employees of Sears are either grossly misinformed about their return policy or extremely deceptive about the policy to their customers. Each person we spoke to gave us a different time frame for returns. The website itself gives misleading information regarding refunds; not to mention the fact that we straight out asked the agent on the phone if we could return the dishwasher and were told it would not be a problem if we returned it within 30 days! We would never have purchased the dishwasher from Sears Canada had we known it could not be returned. We are now out $750. We really regret purchasing this item from Sears Canada especially since we know that there are so many other companies out there that have excellent customer service. I hope this letter stops other consumers from making the same mistake we did. Buyers Beware!!

KitchenAid dishwasher

After researching dishwashers, we bought the KitchenAid KUDE20FBSS0 from Sears Canada with extended warranty. Within 2 months we had to have the water pump replaced, and since then the dishwasher has made an annoying grinding noise that is definitely not noiseless, as the dishwasher was advertised. Now, less than 2 years later, the top rack has fallen off because the cheap plastic parts have disintegrated. We have called Sears Canada for repair under extended warranty, and they are saying it will take a month to order the replacement rack. This dishwasher was really expensive to begin with, and you would think the extended warranty would mean Sears would replace the defective part immediately. I feel we wasted our money on both counts--I would never buy another KitchenAid product, and never another appliance from Sears. Terrible customer service--why did we pay extra for no service at all? The rep on the line said she would connect me with her supervisor, who was conveniently busy with other calls. I find that hard to believe--I think this is standard runaround from Sears. Never buy from this company!

Kenmore Dishwasher

Had an appointment with a 4 hour window. The technician didn't show up and after calling the company, they would not accomodate my schedule (after waiting for 4 hours) for a repair. The technician was running late and should have called to advise customers of the situation. Not reliable at all!

matress/foundation/ non existent metal frame!

My mother had purchased a new matress and foundation from sears which was also including a free metal bed frame with purchase of this particular sleep set. The order was placed on the phone with a live agent, whom had no knowledge of this sale so I had to spend about 1 hour coach g this incompetent employee through the website. Once she had found this I was reassured that It was included but would be shipped at a different time. That was just the beginning, the matress and foundation arrived at the pick up location with now frame as expected, we waited and waited and waited... I called was told yes it was shipped and would arrive by the end of the month, we waited and waited, you get where this is going. I called again and was told no it was not included. This is false advertising and I am shocked that this is happening to consumers. Please boycott this company, save your dollars as they are overpriced and not able to deliver. Please know that I am not one to complain but when my 2 year old has been sleeping on the matress and foundation for two weeks with no frame I get mad and then I get even.

Couch and ottoman

I purchased a couch and ottoman July 2015. I was very clear with the sales rep that I was moving in a month (military posting), and wanted the furniture delivered immediately before move, therefore, delivery was scheduled for several weeks after the purchase.

Once in our new home (which was in a new province), we discovered that the new couch wouldn't fit in our house. I called Sears immediately, and was told that they could be of no assistance regarding a return. I spoke with the sales rep, the manager, and various other people, who continually gave me the run-around, and basically told me that it's my problem only, and they can only arrange an exchange.

I had no choice but to agree with an exchange (while concerned that another couch may still not fit), and then learned that they have to arrange a 'return' of funds, then I'd have to place a new order. This didn't make much sense since it's supposed to be an exchange, but I was assured that this was the process. I then had to pay off the Sears Financial card in full (which defeats the purpose of financing), in order to begin the exchange process. I then had to pay for the second couch on my own credit card up front, and then had to wait for the full refund for the first couch. It is now 01 Sept 2015, and I just spoke with the customer service department, who said it will be another 10 business days before I get a cheque for my refund. I asked if they could expedite the cheque since I've been waiting a while for the money, and the lady promptly told me that there's nothing she can do.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SERVICE AND EXPERIENCE! I will never make another purchase from Sears and I won't hesitate to tell family and friends about this. I am appalled that no one offered any bit of compensation for this ordeal. I understand that the company has rules, but certainly exceptions can be made, or things done to maintain customer loyalty. Our military move was not of our choosing, and we had no option but to move provinces. I'm embarrassed for Sears.

Sofa/Loveseat

I thought I was going to be a lone voice in my dissatisfaction of the Sears delivery crew but obviously poor delivery service is rampant in the company. This now makes sense why Kit (the supervisor I spoke to) wouldn't do anything for me after I waited 6.5 hours for my sofa set. If he DID do something it would bankrupt the company. After taking a day off of work, waiting around for the requisite 5 hours and STILL not receiving my delivery, I called and was told (at 4:30 pm) that the truck had 18 deliveries that day, I was number 16 on the list, and they were currently on delivery number 2! Needless to say my sofa set was not arriving by 5:00. As I had dinner plans and 3 hungry children to feed, I asked when the next delivery date would be and was given a date 6 days later. I had already waited a week and a half for this set and was trying to cope with no furniture in my living room. I also did not want to take ANOTHER day off of work so I waited. I refused to pay the delivery charge but was not compensated in any other way. Shame on you Sears for treating your customers this way. Canada does not have a large population, at this rate you are going to burn through your customer base in no time!
