10 Windows replaced in a 40 year old Home

Terrible installation. They did not seal the new windows or shimmy them. I have extensive water damage. They came back 11 times to try to fix them, always with different excuses. I had water running down from my top floor window into my basement windows (through my walls). Very stressful.
They don't use their own installers, they use contract installers and they kept telling me "Well its not our fault we didn't install these".
The pictures are a final product of my New Windows. The pic of the window that the sun is shining through was not insulated, they just covered it up with caulking. And the pic of the wet window. That water is on the inside of my window not the outside.

Install warranty non existent

We had a big front window and our front door reinstalled by durabuilt. The warranty service on the actual window and door were great-just a minor tweak to each. But the install warranty. Horrible. It’s just not installed properly. It’s loud. They have an “install” warranty which I assume is supposed to be done by the contracted by durabuilt installer. We have had 8 calls into durabuilt about this since install. NOTHING has been done, and no calls are EVER returned. We have to keep calling durabuilt. Beyond pathetic. If they are installing for you - run. Go to another company. If they can’t back their work, they are useless.

Window replacement

The product is very well built and attractive and proficient. Salesman Ray Weibe was thorough and knowlegeable. The installer Gel was very accomodating and skilled and he did the demo so that we were able to reuse all our oak trims on the ibnterior

New custom built house

During the 2 year warranty period 6-7 windows lost their seal and steamed-up (triple pane) (covered by Durabuilt, however 3 years later another 5 windows lost their seal - now (Fall 2018) another 2 windows have failed - all repair service post warranty at my expense (Durabuilt provided the glass). Gong Show - our Durabuilt Sales Rep (who we worked well with) was fired mid-project plus plus engineer/designer made an excellent recommendation but also made a major unfixable mistake. For me - the windows have been anything but dura-built!

Adding a window to the basement

This Company is a joke, they have no communication skills, we had to chase them to do their job, then they did not communicate what prep needed to be done for the job so the concrete cutters couldn't get their job done properly. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY !

Window technician error not covered under warranty

4 year ago we replaced all 6 windows on the back side of the house. Within the first year we commented that there was a bad draft coming from our basement window. They advised we were not sliding the window closed properly... how many ways can you slide a window? Open and closed. The answer is 2. They explained that even though we were able to lock the window that we had to slam it shut each time to ensure proper sealing. I have never slammed a window and recommend not doing it around a sleeping toddler.
2 years ago , same window, develops a stress crack in one of the panes causing the pane to spider web. Upon calling they advised they would come out and replace the pane for the retail fee of $500. While shopping around for a second opinion, the same pane on the opposite window suffers the same crack, spiderwebbing that pane as well in the identical location. Durabuilt quoted another $500 to replace it. They have agreed that it is a stress crack but not their fault because it is part their 90 day warranty. When asked to replace the entire window, they refused stating it was just the panes that needed fixing. We feel they will not replace the window, even if paid to do so, because it will prove their error in installing. Our second opinion has advised that the stress cracks are from either the shims underneath nor being spaced correctly or the shipping screw has been left in the bottom of each window, both common accidents. Durabuilt was told this but refused to help.
We will not be utilizing Durabuilt services any longer. A company that will not stand behind their technicians or take responsibility for their actions is not a company I will trust with the safety of my home.
For those of you with Durabuilt windows, I wish you the best of luck should you need maintenance: having someone come to our home is like pulling teeth from a chicken... very difficult, especially since they don't have teeth.

Beware falling windows

We replaced our crank out windows 10 years ago. A few weeks ago I was opening the dining room window (not a window I use much) to clean the sill. The whole window fell out and smashed breaking the glass and frame. It took several days for Durabuilt to send someone out to look at the window and measure for a new one. This was a complete failure of the mechanism that supports the window as it was all bent and the screws all came out. The warranty on the hardware is a limited lifetime warranty and since this failed and caused the window to fall, I felt Durabuilt should take some responsibility. They gave me a slightly discounted price but it still is costing me $650. I have a second window that has never closed properly which they can’t fix without a significant cost as well. I had 6 crank out window put in and 2 have failed within 10 years. For the cost of these windows one would expect a better lifetime that 10 years.

Pinhead window

Pinhead window 2nd floor needs attention. We were asked to feel it, take picture!! Seniors not about to climb up and do so..asked about warranty..durabuilt emailed me warranties about Windows and doors. This is a specific window..not a flipping door..7 days later still mega emails no direct answer/results.. FRUSTRATING

Rental upgrade

We upgraded our rental house. Happy with our new windows so far other than in one week the inside pane cracked on one without cause. I’m sure it will be fixed tho.

After checking with other companies. Durabuilt had the best price. Happy with the service.

Service

My husband do Reno jobs and we usually buy windows from Durabuilt. i must say the service and after sale support we get from their service department is awesome. i am the one who has to call service department of different suppliers if need arises and found the durabuilt service is the best. i understand there is cost for everything but their service and labor cost is still cheaper than other window companies.
