First and foremost, let me say that workmanship and for most part employees that were involved on site were good. Todd and Ben from MR were excellent and Marc and Stephane (and spouse) from Olistin were very professional.

The big issue we had was with the very poor project management at MR and Olistin and lack of contact that left us at times almost managing the project ourselves. I often was sending emails and calling wondering what was going on with cabinets and construction issues. The response always indicated that they were very busy and that staff had left, causing backup. Project managers seemed to change weekly. Having managed multi-million dollar projects before I truly realize that delays happen. That is why ongoing contact is so critical. For the most part, until the final few weeks, nobody seemed to have a handle on the project and nobody kept us in the loop on what was happening. Very frustrating

The design phase was pleasant, but the designer (who left MR before we were completed) made some major and potentially dangerous design errors despite having appliance specs. This caused more delays. After nearly 3 months of a 6 week project we were 99% complete. One final issue surrounding moldings on top of cabinets was conveyed to MR. Finally got a response 21 days later! That sort of summed up our whole experience.

I would not, but if I were to start again with MR:
** As indicated in an earlier review, DO NOT pay 100% of cabinet bill until all cabinet work is completed. We felt as though we were an afterthought to MR once money was all paid.
** Get a commitment from Olistin and MR about progress update timing and hold them to it.
** Get the name and phone number of the person in charge of all operations so feedback about project managers and workers can be provided if needed.
** Add a few weeks at least to the project schedule and if possible, do it in off-season (Fall or spring) to potentially minimize risks of Olistin over-booking, which was a big part of the problem.

I have been honest with this review and have indicated all my issues to staff at Olistin and MR as we were working through the project. Will be no surprises there, except for senior managers/owners who may never hear this client feedback. Hope this helps someone when looking for a kitchen renovation source in Ottawa.

MR Kitchens has exceeded all expectations. The design team professional and well informed, the service personnel extremely competent, and after-sales service the best in the business. This company is exceptionally high-value added and by far the best value for money on the market. We invested the time to make the right decision and it has indeed proven worthwhile!

I did a substantial amount of research before settling on MR Kitchen and a patient designer (Colleen) incorporated all of my changing ideas into the final design, which I love. The cabinets are quality products and, Olistin, the construction company associated with them were professional, timely and communicative. Our project was a total re-design of the original space and, of course, disruptive to our daily lives but worth every moment we spent in renovation. I still sit in the adjoining family room and just stare at this beautiful and efficient kitchen for which i am getting rave reviews from family and friends.

We hired M.R. Kitchens because the cabinets are made on site. We picked our color, materials, design etc. Olestin did the actual construction. Although I am totally happy with the service from M.R Kitchens, I cannot say the same of the construction company. They lacked communication, they often didn't turn up because they had a bigger job to work on. We went four days with no one coming to do any work, not because of a delay for materials. I would use M.R. for design no problem but have someone else do the construction.

We saw a kitchen that they designed in a show home. We called them, they came to take measurements, drew up some designs for us to pick from. It went well, they were good to deal with.

We looked around for a local company to do a custom kitchen. The designer came by and did measurements and then drew up some designs to pick from. We got together and picked out the finishes, counters , and the hardware.It was the same basic foot print, but much better use of space, more storage now.

We needed our kitchen re designed and someone recommended M.R Kitchens.I wanted someone who would work with me. I wanted input on the decisions, and wanted someone responsive to my needs. Olestin construction were fine to work with. They were on time, would make adjustments as required and were open to discussion.

We got quotes from 3 companies, we went with M.R. kitchens mainly because of their price. We didn’t change the layout other than make things a little more symmetrical. There were a few minor hiccups but for the most part it went pretty well.

We were extremely happy with both the design phase of our kitchen renovation and especially dealing with Earl of M.R. Kitchens as all of our ideas were incorporated in the design as well as his helpful suggestions.

Before starting the project the contractors from Olistin Home Renovations met with us to go over a step by step schedule, which covered all of the work that would be completed, a timeframe for the work and options and pricing for some of the features. The Olistin employees who came into our home were on time, pleasant to deal with and always cleaned up at the end of the day. I would recommend M.R. Kitchens or their contractors to anyone who is looking to renovate or do a kitchen project

M R Kitchens is in my neighborhood. We spoke to Melissa about what we wanted and she helped us with the design, she have us several options. She was fast to respond when we had questions.
