Plugged drain and leak in the laundry room

When we contacted Hillcrest on a Friday, they were able to schedule an appointment on the following Monday. We told the office that we needed a drain unplugged and a leak in the laundry room fixed. The plumber was on time, pleasant and professional. The drain was fixed, however, as his office did not mention the leak in the laundry room, he was unable to fix it and we needed to make another appointment. We were only charged for the plumbers time (not travelling time) for the second visit.

Sewage Clearing

Helped me clear my main sewage drain which had become clogged from tree roots. Plumber was on time, efficient, and used the latest tools and technologies (including a snake with root butting bit and camera) to get the job done. Very pleased.

Basement renovation job

Had an issue with BILs plumbing in his house, pipes had ruptured. We decided to DIY it, and went to Hillcrest for the majority of our supplies, since they had most of what we needed. The staff were not very helpful, and the prices are not very competitive either. If we had time to shop around, we most likely would have taken our business elsewhere. Overall, we got what we needed, but with below par service and non-competitive pricing.

Plumbing

We had a plumbing emergency on a statutory holiday. They were the ones that were available to show up the quickest. Plumber was courteous and quickly resolved our problem, and offered to look into other small plumbing problems while he was here, will use them again!

Boiler over heating - stat not working

They showed up 4 hrs late (without calling) said they would have the parts in the truck (didn't) charged to go look for the part at the shop (with no results). Mocked up a temporary fix that they would have to come back to fix correctly (3 days late). Complained the wiring was not done correctly but changed nothing.
Tried to mark the part up $190 to $470...Lowered it to 360 after i complained and told them i checked with Emco on its cost .
Management needs to take a look at how it services the neighbourhood.

kitchen sink replacement

I first went to home depot to replace my sink but they didnt stock the larger size sink that I had. Hillcrest had it in stock and gave it to me right away. After I installed it, I need all new parts for the drainage under the sink and was went back to them for the parts. Always honest free advice and usually they have the parts available for purchase right away,

hot water tank replacement + vent stack inspection

I've been burned by these guys twice. The first time was about 5 years ago. I made a morning appointment to get my hot water tank replaced. They never showed up during the two hour time window they gave me. I called twice and both times they said someone was on their way. After four hours someone finally did arrive and was surprised I would be annoyed. Service tip: if you are going to be late: phone.

Five years later I decided to try them again for my sewer vent stack problem and the story was exactly the same. They finally did call to say someone was coming...four hours late!

Stay away from these guys if you don't want to spend the entire day waiting around for your plumber to show up!

toilet backup

When flushing the toilet , the water would backup in the bowl, but not quite overflow. Hillcrest came, used a snake, said they found nothing, & said it was a defective toilet. They sent another plumber out a few days later, who ran another auger, & said there was no blockage, just a venting problem. Then the boss came out & said there is a possible dip in the pipe & a camera should be run , for a 3rd call.
In the end, City of Vancouver sewer dep't ran a camera & auger & within a few minutes said it was tree roots blocking the pipe. I am disappointed that Hillcrest was so certain on their first 2 calls that it was NOT a blockage.
