We purchased our home from a builder over ten years ago, and as a young married couple starting a family we were not in a position to upgrade or decorate properly at the time. A decade later and a few more dollars to spend it was time to make my house a home. I knew the right thing to do was call in a decorator, however I was a little reluctant. In my mind I always envisioned a decorator working on larger projects and became worrisome if it was something my budget allowed. Nevertheless I went ahead and began without consulting a decorator. I had my home painted and still felt that I wanted to do more but now felt as if I had hit a road block. Around the same time I visited my cousin and fell in love with her new living room. When I asked where she got her ideas from, she said Margarida from Chic Decor. I realized then that even though I had already painted my house I did not want to buy a single piece of furniture, light fixture or decoration until I met with a designer. I was absolutely THRILLED to be referred to Margarida by my cousin. I called Margarida almost immediately! When Margarita walked into my house, she immediately had THE best ideas ever! She told me how to turn my front hall, living room, family room, kitchen, powder room, and dining room into spaces that would eventually look like they belonged in a magazine. I was excited for this transformation to take place. With Margarita’s help I was going to create a space I was proud of, a space that was warm and inviting to my family and friends. She told me exactly what to get rid of, what to go buy and from where, and the exact colours and sizes of everything! I had to write down everything she told me because she made so many suggestions that I didn't want to forget a single one. Right now, I am in the process of installing the light fixtures Margarida recommended. I simply cannot wait to see how awesome my place will look!!! My family was amazed and impressed at all the ideas Margarida gave us, that they keep reminding me not to buy a single item for the house unless it is Margarida-approved first! I highly recommend hiring Margarida for any designing or decorating ideas. I wish I had Margarida over before I painted so she could have helped me choose better colors for my place .... We had bought a new home and were trying to do the furnishing and decorating ourselves without much luck. We live on Roatan Island and so I thought finding someone to help us was going to be difficult. My sister in Oakville recommended Margarida while I was visting her. We met for an initial visit and to discuss logistics of long-distance decorating. Margarida was professional yet friendly and helpful. She recognized that speed was important as I was in Canada for only a short time. She asked concise questions and for my husband to send specific information and pictures so that at our next meeting together we would make the best use of our time. Based on my feedback and pictures of our space she was able to shop with me for everything we needed and then to arrange the shipping of the large items. Once everything was in place she skyped me so that she could see the finished project and make some fine tuning suggestions. My husband and I are thrilled with the completed rooms and know that we wouldn't have been able to come close to doing such a beautiful job without Margarida's help.

We had a wonderful experience with Margarida. I found her website and liked what I saw, so we interviewed her and felt connected immediately. She is so easy to talk to and had lots of recommendations of where to buy the products we needed to start the process. We were totally renovating a condo/townhouse.

It is with great pleasure that I write this glowing review for Margarida. She is a true professional and has a gift for empowering her client's vision while providing important suggestions on how to improve upon a space. As all her advice is slowly being realized, it becomes clear what a huge difference small (and larger) changes make. One aspect of her professionalism which should really be emphasized is her respect and responsibility to her clients. I called her about 3 weeks after our consultation with a question about a runner for my hallway and she reponded that same afternoon with a very detailed message regarding size, colour, pattern and even what not to purchase! If the need should arise, I would definitely work with Margarida again and recommend her to friends and family.

We contacted Margarida Oliveira after reading the reviews on Homestars and have been very pleased with her services. We began with a major renovation to our ensuite bathroom. Margarida helped us plan the layout, arrange contractors, and select the finishings (tiles, wall colour, vanity and countertop, plumbing and lighting fixtures, etc). Margarida is an excellent listener and was able to find solutions that my husband and myself could agree on (not always an easy task!) and were within our budget. After the bathroom renovation we called Margarida back to help us select paint colours for our 4 bedrooms. The next stage was selecting custom window coverings for our living room, dining room, master bedroom and ensuite, and daughter's bedroom. She also helped us select bedding for our master bedroom. Again, Margarida did a masterful job of selecting colours and styles that we are very pleased with. I highly recommend Margarida for your home renovation/decor project.

Several years ago my husband and I found our dream home in downtown Toronto, walking distance to work, shops and entertainment. The house was great but the decor consisted of mismatched furniture we had collected over many years. We interviewed 3 interior designers before hiring Margarida, who immediately impressed us with her style concepts and professional demeanor. Margarida then worked closely with us to determine our vision for the main floor of our house, presented us with a few options and then proceeded to transform our main floor into a beautiful and comfortable space. Importantly, Margarida ran the entire show and coordinated the efforts of the various trades needed to complete the transformation. This saved us enormous time and ensured that the process was seamless. We were delighted with the final outcome which incorporated our personalities but also glammed us up a little bit. Overall, we would strongly recommend Margarida for any home decor project. She is a dedicated professional and a delight to work with.

With the purchase of my first place, I was feeling overwhelmed with the task of selecting all the items at the builder’s decor centre. I read the positive reviews and was impressed by the photos from past clients’ homes on the website. During the first meeting, Margarida was easy to talk to and listened to me with an ability to understand and easily determine my style. I never felt that she was pushing her own style on me, but rather she was able to make suggestions with my preferences in mind. The beginnings of an action plan for the future look of my new condo was put together and we moved on to the decor centre where she was able to minimize the confusion and choices. I came away feeling confident that I will be starting the actual decorating phase without any problems or regrets about what I've chosen. Margarida spent a couple of hours with me picking paint colours for my house, and I am so happy with the result! She has a talent not only for picking colours that work wonderfully, but for sensing what people want and are comfortable with. She is very easy to talk to, and made a lot of helpful suggestions regarding decor while we were picking colours.
